Suns 8th most valuable franchise

Post#1 » by irish22022 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:47 pm

Not sure if everyone saw this or not, but according to forbes, Suns are the 8th most valuable franchise, right behind the MIAMI HEAT.

Found that to be very shocking. I know we've been competitive for years, so that adds to value, but still, Sarver must be raking in the cash now if we're still in the top ten and our payroll has been reduced, FO expenses have been reduced, etc...

Seems like our value will be going down a great deal the next couple of years. Maybe he'll sell?

Anyone care to dig out the value of the Suns the year Sarver bought the franchise? If I remember, it was something like $450m but I could be way off. I'd like to know if Sarver is still in the black with this franchise.

Sell it while the stock's high, because this team is doing down the tube in the next 2 years.

Sarver really is an idiot if he's trying to milk every last cent of he can get from Nash being on this team. He's like a guy who blocks his house in during a bushfire just to keep his house safe but with no escape route for himself if/when the fire does overcome the walls. If Sarver doesn't rebuild or reload while we still have assets and Nash, he's going to be sorry when Nash is done and he's left with a mediocre product, no merchandising sales and massive drops in attendance.

If he holds onto the franchise through the rebuilding stage, he definatly will want to be there when we start winning again to cover up the losses

Sarver will our owner for the next 2 decades.

Well, by keeping his franchise as is, he's hurting his chances of bringing in more money quicker. The faster he agrees to a rebuild the better shape we'll be and sooner.
