He needs to gain weight, but he is very long, athletic, and has some post game and rebounding ability. I could see a less is more approach for the Suns in this offseason being ok. Very simply waive Vince, hopefully get Brenden for cheap, draft a Sg. or Pg., See what happens with a healthy back up Lopez, a full training camp for Gortat and Peitrus, see if Duds continues to improve like he has, see who falls to us in the draft. With V.C. gone, and Duds with Peitrus getting all the Sg. time, this means we get to see what Chilly has to offer more often at the back-up Sf. Yeah, that would do for me as a fan, especially since there are no diffrence makers available to us.

Well, Afflalo would maybe not be a difference maker in that trading for Jabbar/Shaq sort of way ,even in the PGasol sense, but he would be a very nice complementary pice here.

But I wouldn't' be all put out if we got Wright - my major concern in whoever we get and whoever we keep is, heart, hustle and willingness to play D. Back in the happy days of ... why, it was just last season we saw what a bench of Duds, Lou and Dragic could add to this team. We have four good defensive SFs right now, but one should play SG (Duds) on either line, starter or Bench Mob. Play Chilly as starting SF in the Marion role - and damn Trix looked good last night against the Fakers - Put Hill in the second unit like we've all kind of come around on, and use MP at either SG pr SF as needed. This means we don't have to start a rookie (Burks, say) if we don't really want to.
Pick up someone like Wright, who does fit in at least $$-wise with what we'll have, and draft wisely.

Then aim for '12 and see what deals we can pull. I like it.

Man, so much rests on whether Lopez can fix whatever's wrong

Oden / Frye
Gortat / B.Wright

would be an IDEAL front court rotation... for me :-)

I'd settle with M.Gasol though...

Two guys I'd invite to camp are Lester Hudson and Jeff Pendergraph - Hudson I liked a lot but he just never caught on with either the Knicks or the Celtics. I'd put that down to circumstances - I was liking him for us that year and still think he'd work at a bargain price, maybe qualify for vet min.

Scores from all over the court, strong defender, good ballhandler and can play the point if necc. though he's best used as a shooting guard.

JP blew his knee out and the Blazers waived him - that was year ago. He had been looking better than anyone expected up til then. he might benefit form the trianers here, and it costs nothing to have a look.
- "Pendergraph is a meat and potatoes type player, mostly living off scraps offensively. The overwhelming majority of his points come off the ball--cuts, offensive rebounds, pick and rolls, and in transition. He’s smart, has terrific hands, and finishes pretty well around the basket—which makes him a reliable target inside. Arizona State is one of the slowest-paced and most offensively efficient teams in college basketball, and having a passer of James Harden’s caliber on the floor obviously doesn’t hurt.

Pendergraph is fairly mechanical trying to create his own shot with his back to the basket, although he can find some success doing so at the collegiate level. He rarely if ever attempts to do anything outside the paint, although from the small sample size of clips we saw it appears that developing a solid 15-17 foot mid-range jumper is not out of the question based on the mechanics he shows. Putting the ball on the floor is currently not in his repertoire. Based on his combination of size, athleticism and limited skill-set, Pendergraph does not project to be anything more than a fourth or fifth option at best when he’s on the floor. Pendergraph is a solid passer and almost never turns the ball over, which is a good combination for a future role-player.

Defensively, Pendergraph is very solid, showing extremely active feet in Arizona State’s zone. He’s not particularly tall, long or bulky, but his effort level, smarts and fundamentals allow him to be effective. He has nice timing and will block the occasional shot, although this probably isn’t something that is expected to translate that effectively considering his average physical attributes. He’s a good, but not great rebounder on top of that.

In terms of intangibles, Pendergraph is pretty much the entire package, as he’s a smart, well-spoken, hard working player on and off the court

Some papers have offered the list of free agents we would be interested in. Redd, Crawford and West are the ones we like the most.

I like West. He would be a great change in the directtion of our game. But he plays slow, is injured and may be his poor jump has become even shorter. His inside game would complement Frye 3s, though, and Gortat midrange jumpers. That would also mean we give up on Lawal and we get to trade Warrick.

Crawford would be a great shooter who can create his own shot (in fact, that is the only thing he does), but would need to modify his game a lot to fit here. He should be conducted to be kind of a Jason Terry.

I wonder whether we should trade for Iguodala or not. He can do much of everything, can run the court, block shots, help with rebounds. But he has a huge salary, lacks outside shot and handdle.
May be if Philly did an Iguodala (¿+Speights?) for Childres, López and Warrick/Pietrus, we would be interested.

I'm just as antsy. I'm dying to see where this organization is going next year and in the future. I'm just praying they have the right mindset in the front office.

It sounds very weird, but the Goran trade just kicked me in the guts - here was a guy Nash was happy mentoring, seemed like he was part of the future and then - zip, pfffft, gone. I know there were tales he was whooping it up a bit much and not working as hard as he had prior, but c'mon - have Nash talk to him, he'll sort it out. I can't imagine it was so bad we needed to lose him and a pick for Aaron Brooks, who has issues of his own.
Like others on the team, Dragic had a hard time adjusting to two new rosters in one season. That really deflated my hopes for the Suns.

Goran can and will be able to do everything Brooks does, and then some, and then some on the defensive end... Sometimes I sit up at night wondering why in the world they traded Goran. He was having a down year alright, but we didn't even finish the season before shipping him off for a guy who brings nothing to our team.

You actually are able to sleep after the Dragic trade? I spent countless nigths in a row sitting up in bed, wearing my Dragic jersey and hugging a Goran Dragic bobblehead, with a Slovenian flag draped over my shoulders sobbing to the sound of Lon Babby's inpersonation of Kurt Cobian at the post-trade press conference.

Actually that's not true, but it gives you an insight on how much I detested that trade.

I just don't understand the inclusion of the pick. Just don't get it. Makes no sense.

except that it's a guaranteed salary, and i can see not keeping something that is unlikely to help us in any substantial way and definitely going to cost money, with a new CBA looming - but geez, swap it for a 2nd rounder at least

I don't understand ANYTHING about it. Has to be one of the worst moves in franchise history. I don't even feel like I'm exaggerating on this.

KT trade is up there too in that special group.

But at least the KT deal served SOME purpose. Like, there was an actual reason for it to have happened. I'll never forget watching the ESPN coverage right as the deadline struck and hearing all the last minute deals trickling in and hearing that Aaron Brooks was coming to Phoenix.....for Goran Dragic?!

I remember getting emailed at work that we'd traded Dragic for Brooks and a pick was involved...unfortunately knowing how the Suns work, I didn't think "Sweet, we got a pick at least"...it was "it better not be one of this year's 1sts"...Low and behold

It just makes NO sense
