OT: Phoenix Mercury Playoffs

Post#1 » by rsavaj » Tue Sep 20, 2011 4:28 am

I don't know if any of you follow the team, but they just played an AMAZING game. Rounds One and Two are best of 3 series. Mercury lost Game 1 in Seattle, came back to Phoenix and won to force a Game 3 back in Seattle.

The Storm were 16-2(and had won 37 of their last 40 if you include previous seasons) at home. Mercury end up down by 18, and I thought they were dunzo. Somehow they battle back and even it out in the 4th. Diana Taurasi fouls out. Candace Dupree hits the game-winner with ~2 seconds left, and the Merc advance to the WCF. Penny Taylor led the way with a 19/17 game.

It was a really, really fantastic game, and I'm hoping they can keep this up. They won a title in 07, another one in 09(I was there for the deciding Game 5 and it was great), and I want them to get their third title this year.

Nice to have a Phoenix basketball team that wins.

It's good to have a league that isn't LOCKED OUT, if you KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

I'm glad someone posted this. I caught the tail end of the game.

Merc just got completely worked, losing 95-67. They were down 28-11 in the first. OUCH.

Let's see if they can repeat their first round magic and win the next two.

Just finished watching the game. Im sad, but glad at the same time. The more the Merc won, the more money gets put in Sarvers pocket. Now with them eliminated, maybe he will feel the pinch a little more and quit being such a d*ck in the CBA negotiations.

 It's my understanding that the Merc are operating at a loss no matter what happens...I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the NBA supports the WNBA no matter what.
