Rick Welts

Post#1 » by TheMoochinator » Fri Sep 30, 2011 1:45 am

I know with the lockout there isn't much to chat about but I think this is pretty big news and a disturbing trend.

Steve Kerr - resigns for family purposes, but works as an analyst for TNT and has said he will go back to work for another NBA team.

Rick Welts - resigns for personal reasons, but within two weeks is already hired on as the GSW President and COO

These aren't good signs, and this has Sarver written all over it.

Good franchises start at the top. Losing high character guys like Welts worries me about our future.

Agreed, I don't think it comes as a surprise really that Sarver pushes people out - players, coaches, FO...I mean, with the Welts situation part of it is he wanted to relocate to Cali with his partner, so given an offer there things are different. But still, yes absolutely it's disturbing and unfortunately Sarver is the one person who can't get kicked out.

This happened with Ainge too. He left and like, within a month he was doing TNT.

Not sure it's just a Sarver thing.

Sarver shouldn't take all the blame but still, good management begins at the top.

I just realized I forgot to mention David Griffin also. Another guy who was involved with Suns from literally ballboy all the way up and then suddenly left and went to Cleveland.

I'm not a Sarver hater by any means, but usually when there is smoke there is fire.

You guys are making more of this than deserved. Who cares about this move ? Sometimes things happen without premeditation.

May be the guy wanted out of that F-n suana called Phnx ? Not surprising a 'significant other' may have played into this. GState may or may not have contacted him prior to this.... but given the choice of jobs/cities and considering lifestyles, this is a move he'd likely consider regardless of his professional relationship with Sarver. I know I'd swap occupations with that scenario.

Sarver is a catbox yall like to crap in.

"We've seen the entire top executive team from Steve Kerr, David Griffin and Todd Quinter leave on the basketball side and more recently Rick Welts fled to take a job with the Golden State Warriors. When those closest to the top are leaving it's never a good sign no matter how many ways that's spun.'

Having heard a few things from inside the suns I can categorically tell u at least griff and Kerr were casualties of sarver. Not that he sacked them as such but that they didn't want to work with him and his methods etc

It's only human to think that extends to welts dantoni etc

I stuck up for sarver for a long time - not any more
