The team is in a financially sound position going forward. If there was an amnesty provision, I would expect that we use it on Warrick due to the young PFs we have rostered.

Childress just needs playing time to be valuable - you don't pay to dump a player when his value is artificially low.

Here is what I do miss - Dragic and Amundson. Maybe there was more to it than I'll ever know, but I liked those guys as parts going forward. I find myself looking for players that have qualities those two already possessed, so it seems like backward movement to have moved both.

There you go again. Always making sense.

Just to reply on the topic...

If this happens, Suns become lottery again for the next 5 years I think, maybe contending for 10th and 11th spot for most of that span.

2012 is the year where I think Suns can "luck out" and get a top 5 pick if they see the logic in the "one step back, a big leap forward" theory.

If you seriously just think of the lack of youth potential in the current lineup, its very depressing.... and even if the Suns have 30 million to spend.... the "true" worth stars are taking pay cuts to join contenders..... meaning the remaining stars are fool's gold.

Getting a top 20 pick would be "bare minimum" progress for the Suns if not "no progress" at all, even the draft is deep, as the "likely" franchise potential players are top 15... even top 12..... with the top 5 almost 90% "star" players..... think of the year when LeBron/Wade/Bosh etc got drafted... but add 2 more players.

I agree it would set us back. If there is a shortened season like 99-00 this team has enough veterans to make a run and get the 7-8 seed before getting bounced in the first round. We'd end up taking another role player in the draft and be stuck with mediocre FA signings because all the big guns (Howard, Paul etc...) will be gone to contenders.

I dont see the worst team in the NBA with our roster, but I do not see a playoff team either. Thats why I still think we have to make a smart business move and get some picks in return. Get cap relief, build young and if you have a solid group like we did back in 04, then you land a veteran to lead them like we did in Nash.
