Does anyone else have a problem with ANYONE else wearing #31, let alone Telfair?
I came in as a fan of the Suns towards the end of the Matrix era but was always a fan on the outside looking in of his. I understand we have to let go of the "Run & Gun" era too, BUT, Marion was an integral part of possibly the most successful era in Suns history.
This isn't about Telfair being a bum or anything like that, I just don't personally like the fact that ANYONE is wearing #31. To me it should be a number that goes to the Ring Of Honor (Honour) much like Nash's #13.
I feel it is a bit of a kick in the teeth to the Matrix who put so much into his time here.

That's been bugging me lately. I doubt Marion cares, but I do feel the contributions he's given the franchise where crucial towards our development has a playoff squad. Seeing a bench warmer like Telfair wear it seems disrespectful.

I have no issue with it - Marion was a great player with a **** attitude. If he makes ring of honor then great but until then - no issue
I have more of a problem with grant hill wearing Alvin Adams retired number. Is Nothing sacred? I know the story behind Adams letting him wear it - just think its retired so needs to be kept that way

Telfair should be wearing number 0. Because that's how many points he'll put up this season.

I definitely have a problem with it, but it's not retired yet so I guess you can't say no.

**** attitude or not. We don't watch people play bball for their attitudes. I have a problem with people not being recognised for sporting achievements because of off court (field) stuff. Like Rodman not getting into HOF as a first year eligible or more close to home Wayne Carey (Yes, I hate him), for those of you that don't know he was top 3, if not the best player of his era.
Basketball wise, Marion was great for the Suns, he may have not been happy with contracts and pecking order, but did that effect his play?
Obviously they can't retire (Ring Of Honor) his number now, due to the fact that he is still playing. But for e.g. the Bulls didn't have anyone else wear #33 once he left, they even had Hersey Hawkins play for them who wore #33 for any other team except for when he played Charlotte (Zo wore #33), he wore #3 for the Bulls. Personally I would have liked to have seen this be the case with us.
I also agree with you on the GH thing. Once a number is retired it should stay retired, unless it was retired for stupid reasons much like Miami retiring #23 for Jordan.
Maybe as an organisation we don't see that as being a priority.....which is a disappointment.

Re: #31
Fair call on the attitude thing - I guess what I'm saying is his attitude lost him that little bit of respect that would have kept his number frozen till he was put in the ROH
until he's there I dont mind someone wearing 31. But do believe had he left on better terms that the team may have held it (ie if Nash is elsewhere next year I bet there is no #13)

I personally don't like it, there are plenty of other numbers to wear, but it's not without precedent. The suns let Dice wear Chuck's number, Googs wore Chambers number and both of Amare's numbers have been worn by others.
Funny thing is that they let Dice wear 34 but not 24, but then they let Googs wear 24. And Dice's second tour they didn't let him wear either.

Doesn't bother me at all but I wouldn't say Marion doesn't care. He made a big deal out of every perceived slight.
I don't think he cares. He's just won a ring, I doubt he's even noticed Sebastian Telfair's in the darn league.

I'm sure he's aware, and unless he's matured significantly I'm sure he feels disrespected. I can't recall another player in Suns history that needed to constantly have his ego massaged more.

Re: #31
Marion probably doesn't give a **** about Telfair, his former number, or the Suns in general.
He's set in Dallas, won a ring, and will probably play out the last years of his career as a Mav and than retire into their Ring of Honor.
