Will we set defensive records every game? Heck no. Are we massively improved defensively? Heck yes. The DEFENSIVE FRONTCOURT is better than it's been since...since...since...pre-Amare.

Not that this is going to last...but did anyone notice that Channing Frye is second in the league in defensive rebounding rate behind only Dwight Howard?!? :o

Grant Hill is sort of like that, he tends to have great defensive games when he isn't effective offensively and vice versa.

That's why that dumb little chucker Aaron Brooks' decision to paly in China with no opt-out clause has really hurt this team. Whether Brooks is better than Dragic blah blah blah. The fact is Brooks is our back-up PG and not a bad one IMO.

He would be getting a lot of playing time right now, and we would have a solid Ronnie Price backing up Brooks. Telfair would be waived.

Regarding the lineup, reserves, positions, I believe there should not be, as thera are not, right now, fixed roles.
We have a very deep rotation. We do not have a star, which is good and bad, but we have a 12 men rotation that may be is only a little soft at the guard position.

Probably Redd or Brown should be starters, with Dudley coming off the bench, but I believe Gentry could even change the starting five everygame, depending on the rival's carachteristics, so everybody has to be prepared and alert.

But Warrick can give a great imput in certain games, while Morris can be the important man in others, FRye in others, and Gortat and López can exchange roles and importance too.

At the same time, I keep saying that I do not understand why we invested so much in renewing Hill, when we have Dudley, Childress and Warrick. If Hill can give minutes at the 2, we have Brown, and now Redd.

Also we are more or less at the same position that we were when we traded for Barkley. We have the assets to offer a package of 3 or even 4 players for a star.

Regarding our game, I do not like the way Nash is directing our offense. Not every possesion can be a fast break, a 3 sec possesion, or a flashy pash. In the first qt, while 10-6 down, we shot 4 straight times from outside, all possesions planned by Nash. Gortat and López cannot be there just to defend and rebound. They need their touches.
I know it is Nash's game, but he should be intelligent enough to make a mix out of our offensive.

By the way, Happy New Year everybody in this post.

Can somebody tell me what the hell Gentry is doing by playing Morris 1:12? I don't see any advantages to him basically sitting out the entire game.

:nonono:

1) It's possessions.
2) Nash has repeatedly quarterbacked the best offenses in the world, so belittling his BBall IQ is a little bit like belittling Usain Bolt's speed: It's f***ing ridiculous.
3) Nash's genius is precisely in his ability to take what the defense gives. On a pick-and-roll, if the defense collapses to the roller (Gortat/Lopez, for example) then he kicks to a wide-open shooter. This is the meat-and-potatoes of the best offense of the past decade.
4) We had 6 players in double figures, including Gortat, our third leading scorer.
5) We won by 15.

Watching Nash orchestrate our offense in the 2nd half was beautiful. He had only 2 turnovers in that game (One he got called for being out of bounds when he wasn't even out) and the bounce passes through defenders in the fast break pulled us ahead.

To the people bashing us for that trade, it's not our fault that the idiot signed in China. How the hell were we supposed to know this crap would happen when we traded Dragic? I like the trade, it just didn't turn out well.

I am sorry, but I still do not like the way he orchestrates some of our attacks. Especially in consecutive attacks when we are not getting anything positive and he insists in short attacks and bad positioned shoots. Any team offense should be balanced.
Probably he was much better in the second half.

I am not saying he is playing bad (although obviously he is not that Nash of past years), but I miss more post game.

Yes, we won by 15. WE are 1-2 and still did not play against anybody.
