I have to say that im becoming a little bit of fanboy of your posts ( i have one even bookmarked for lols "Bacardi asks that you celebrate the game by drinking responsibly"), but i think you might overvalue Lopez compared to Gortat. To me its clear that Gortat has great troubles playing with broken thumb right now, plus Nash has been struggling(he makes him better you know).
I have watched every suns game for past 4 years since they became avaliable to me and i have seen every game with Lopez and ofcourse Gortat, so i will give you my humble opinion over the subject . English is not my native language so ill take the easy way out naming abilities.

VS
Jumping/quickness : edge Gortat
Speed : Gortat
Wide open jump shot : Lopez by a small margin
Other offensive : Right now gortat, but will see in the next 20 games.
Rebounding : Since Lopez is slower and cant really compete with the better athletic forwards quicknesses so most of the time on defence he is in an "aeroplane" position feet rooted to the ground which means he can only jump straight up quickly imo thats why he is best at boxing his man out by standard instead of going after it agressively plus those awful butterfingers, Gortat has better jumping+quickness ability so he can ay least choose between boxing and agression. jury is still out there which is better for the team tho.
Defence: i would give edge to Gortat
Basketball IQ: Gortat
Mental toughness : Gortat

Thanks for the kind words, BJuice - I agree that Gortat is a better player but my point, i guess, is that he's not that much better and has, to my mind, a lot more value in trade and would let us bring back things we need -

And I'm aware that I'm comparing a very short sample of Lopez playing better than expected to The Gortat playing with a broken thumb and considerable pain i woud expect. I fell like a guy who has inherited a beautiful new foreign car that performs very well and is ready to give years of great performance, and all I can think about is "what can I get for it"
