The Phoenix Suns = NBA Purgatory

yup. bench caliber 3 starting at our 2.
I wouldn't say Dudley is a bench player. He could start at forward for more than a couple of teams.

The problem with JD playing the 2 fulltime is he simply doesn't have the handles to effectively create his shot. Someone like Affalo or Jrich would make this team look scary on offense once again.

Does this mean we're not a playoff team this season?

I'm still fine with him at the two as long as we don't try and make him what he is not. He needs to take the open shot when he has it, instead of putting it on the floor. Even though he guards most of the opposing twos, he still really should play a three on offense and Hill play more of the two. Grant can put the ball on the floor and shoot off the dribble like most SGs. Unfortunately, Hill is just not himself yet. Hill should still be running the second unit. I saw it a few times, and it was so much better than without either Hill or Nash. Telfair should not be allowed on the court.

I just watched the game after getting home from work.

Turnovers were a problem. Can't stand Jason Terry. But, the biggest problem was playing Telfair. The game was okay until then. Suns had some momentum. Pretty sure Telfair was the one "guarding" Terry when he hit those 2 threes. Cut Telfair now, plz. I'd much rather they kept Dowdell as the 3rd string PG.

Also, Shannon Brown needs passing lessons. You pass to Brown, good luck getting the ball again.

Positives:

Gortat: When his finger is healed, and he goes for dunks again, he'll be good.
Nash: Despite some uncharacteristic turnovers, it looks like he's getting his game back.
Hill: Played great defense on Dirk. Starting hitting his shots that he usually makes.
Morris: Not his best game, but there was a difference when he was in with certain lineups.

All-in-all, too many TOs and Off. Rebs. Too much Telfair.

Frye is at least doing his job on the boards, while averaging much less minutes than last year. I have no idea what Telfair is doing out there, and why Gentry keeps playing him. It is like last year when Gentry kept starting VC. I know Price was struggling this game, but Telfair keeps proving that he is never an answer. I really wish we would have grabbed Tinsley like I wanted.

Now Tinsley is lighting it up either, but he actually plays under control, and looks like he can still run an offense, where as Telfair never proved he could.

Statistical anomalia?
Because this is nonsense: Rebounds per 48 minutes.
1 Dwight Howard , ORL 19.8
2 Channing Frye , PHX 19.0
3 Kevin Love , MIN 18.5

Hey.... No numbers allowed 8-)

So... untimely turnovers, offensive rebounds, missed open shots, defensive lapses... We just got handled.
But as mentioned by the 'Silver Lining', some good signs by theGORTAT, MarMo, and a few others.

Move on folks, nothing to see here but minor affirmation of a few obvious faults.

I do have to give Frye credit for contributing in other ways since his shooting is off. He has been rebounding like a madman, and those statistics are not nonesense. He has been a very consistent rebounder for 5 games. What I do not understand is why he hasn't done this before if he is capable of doing it. Good grief. Rebound 10 a game as a center and you are an all-star in this league, and very rich.

If he continues this, I like him as our backup c/pf. He makes Lopez expendable with Kieff moving to the starting pf spot. Maybe then we could trade for a decent starting 2.

Maybe this is tanking strategy. Looks to me like the surest way to a good lotto pick is to play Telfair.

Yes, that does cross one's mind, no? I wonder what could be had for say, Lopez and the rights to Brooks? I understand we can't trade Brooks until he physically comes back? That sucks -

But hmmm ..... Mayo?

I still don't get why Chilldress isn't playing. In a game where we aren't scoring, the only smart thing to do is bring in a guy that can D it up. Right now, while Hill still isn't himself, Chilldress is our best defender. The problem I see, is Gentry trying to make Chill what he isn't, a jump/spot shooter. The dude is a slasher, and garbage man, which we need almost all the time.

We had a day to prepare for Dallas, and we let them do whatever they want for the last three quarters.

Its a statistical fluke, trust me ... "you cant teach old dog new tricks" He has been ~6rpg guy for 6 years and when your 27 you just are not going to develop yourself into 10+ rpg player. Its boxing out by others +hot streak of rebounds falling near where he has been.

I don't buy that - I'll bet he keeps it up. Frye is a Finesse Player with the heart of a Dirt Worker

We're not a terrible team....we're just not very good.

The losses really don't hurt me much anymore.

Found myself wondering that exact same thing the other day, during game watching just looking for something positive for future or just appreciate a good play, win is a bonus.

yes, looking for pennies in the dirt is about all we have this year - minimally rewarding but it beats working.

And, too, this is good for the whatchamacallit - the character, right?
