The Florida Highway Patrol issued a report that said Hazell Stoudemire was driving a Cadillac Escalade north on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales, Fla., at a high rate of speed and collided with the rear of a tractor trailer at 1:42 a.m. ET. The report said that the 35-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was declared dead at the scene. Police are awaiting test results to see if alcohol was involved in the accident.

I thought it was the younger Stoudemire, who Amare tweeted about regarding high school/college basketball the other day, I was shocked... then checked it was the older Stoudemire... still, real bad for the Stoudemire family... condolences to them.

I'll be shocked if he wasnt at least 1.5 blood alcohol level since it was right around last call. When Amare decided to leave Phoenix I remember thinking to myself at least his family went with him. Call me cruel but i've read alot of shady things about his family and his mom is a real piece of work; I watched her do an interview once and she was such a wreck mentally I actually remember feeling embarrassed for Amare.

his mom lives around the block from me, she's nice enough to wave if im driving by and waving like a lunatic. feel pretty bad for the family but at least it wasnt the young innocent brother, this dude has done some sketchy stuff. wouldnt wish harm on him but you know at least it wasnt a kid. jeremy lin was nasty tonight too. drank some burrrrrz now im ramblin ohnoooOO

Aside from basketball Amare has had a pretty **** life. Hazelle kept the wrong people away from Amare growing up so good on him for that.

I cant speak on his other life choices but I hope the older Stoudemire brother can find peace at last.

Wasn't his other brother Marwan charged in some type of murder not too long ago?

EDIT: nvm that was his half-brother, still though crazy family with the mother having done jail time in the past too.

Terrible news...Amare's family is all sorts of messed up. It's amazing that he's managed to keep his head up and emerge from the chaos.
