I have seen enough of Robin Blowpez to know that Siler >>>>>> Lopez. We shouldn't have cut Siler. I would have rather had us trade Lopez for 10 bucks and a 6 pack of beer
I dont think much will argue on this, but we must agree upon what kind of beer before we finalize things lol.
I would trade him for beer bottles full of piss
Feeble attempts at "quote-worthy" one-liners, won't get you onto JVC's website.... just sayin'.
Robin Lopez is a young 7 footer, with good athleticism, defensive instincts and passable offence. He will grow, and improve. You do realise this is the guy who STARTED for a top 2 team in the West a couple of years ago? Injuries have taken their toll on him, but he looks to be back to his best now.
I would be very disappointed if they let him go for nothing.

Thats the gamble. He goes... we have to replace him. He stays, he costs us 4 mil. We do not have to give him a long term deal unless some one else does. We then weigh the options with that team.
Its going to cost 2-3 million to acquire a back up center and you might end up with a Johan Petro. 4 mill to keep LOWpez. You are talking about a $2mil risk... and the downside is we have him for a yr. The upside is we have him for a yr.
What ? Me Worry ?

Even when RoLo was at his best he still looked very sloppy. We dont need to waste our time with the kid.

Really? Playoffs run back in 2010, you forgot about that? And yeah, Lopez can often be frustrating but he is playing pretty good lately, hands down.

MLEs are a bad idea in general. They never result in good production for what you're paying, and they always wind up being a year or two longer than they should be.
I say no to Robin. If another team is interested, maybe a S&T for a similar talent that could also use a change of scenery.
Maybe.
But I'm more on the let him walk and don't over analyze the situation.

its quite the same problem as it was with boris and leandro. they played well in a system but were much better than robin is now. they got their contracts but never produced as good as they were once. its kind of a gamble.

The first coin flip is to issue a QO or not...
The second is to match whatever he may be offered. or parlay some value out of him.
You guys who want to dump him for nadda... need to list out 10 better back ups at 4 mil or less. Then think if thRobin is worth the extra hay. Look around. Teams pay through the nose for real centers... not that RoLow is all that good, but he will get interest. He has value.
Turn him into something... even if it isnt till next yrs trade deadline.

He's young and he's a 7-footer, that's about it. His defense and offense will never be worth $4m a year because he's just so damn uncoordinated all the time. He's slow on rotations and he's at best, he's mechanical on offense.
2 years ago, he was a guy who started on a team that didn't need his offense and his defense was passable with the pre-injury athleticism. He was hardly spectacular and if you remember, we only chucked him in there so we could bring Frye off the bench like 4 min into the quarter. Sure he started, but he only averaged 17mpg in the playoffs.
I wouldn't be disappointed if we resigned him to something reasonable like $6-7m over 3.

I like this point of view. He is probably going to get some decent attention in RFA. If we consider him a young piece, instead of a scrub, then he's a piece to move forward with into the future. If he can develop into a serviceable (and he's already shown he can be) player, we'll need him as Gortat ages (though we probably wouldn't need to worry about that through the length of a potential next contract for Lopez).

I think we have to issue the QO so we have right of refusal, and then see how silly the other teams get. Someone offers him a foolish deal we say, here - let me help you haul those longboxes* out to the car
If we can keep him for reasonable, hang on, hope he keeps playing like he has, and deal him. I don't trust him for any consistency and I don;'t trust his health. He missed two under the basket shots last night because he still can't jump
