I like Gentry and think he's a good coach, but if we finish with a really bad record this year, I think we should part ways. Not because he's a bad coach, but we need a young coach to bring some energy to this team since we'd be in rebuilding mode.

SCHOENE model: 28-54
NBAPET model: 27-55
John Hollinger's model: 26-56
ESPN group: 30-52
Yahoo Guy : 25-57

We have 4 wins already, and we've been in pretty much every game except for that Orlando game. We're on a 30 win pace exactly...if we start playing just a bit better, we can probably win 35 games.

He's not doing any worse than what the talent on this team would suggest.

Agreed completely.
How many more wins could a new coach possibly add? 5? 10?
Is a 30 win season better than a 25 win season? Would we consider it a success if we got to 30 instead of 25?

Phil Jackson just probably isn't phased by random streaks or ups and downs of the game.

I wouldn't be either, if I had the best players on the planet on my team. But it has been repeated over and over that we don't have the best talent, so we will need a coach to help in that area. But I guess you don't mind 17-2 runs that alter the whole game.

Timeouts don't really work that way. You know that right?

Ok :o Mainly I would call timeouts either when I saw something I didn't like going on, the team wasn't implementing either the offense or defense I wanted, the other team went on a huge run and gained a large momentum boost, Needed to make a substitution that couldn't wait for the next dead ball, or I saw a coachable moment that needed to be addressed. I'm not sure how you would use timeouts, but that is how I did.

When you have less talent, which is what everyone says we have, then the coach needs to step up and teach these players how to do things correctly. That isn't happening. We have a terrible looking offense. We have the same three point shots, just very little of them are going in. If we want to win some games, we need to tweak the offense. The suggestion to have a running second unit could be a good answer. Simplify it, by making it a run and gun squad. I suggested four easy plays we could do with a Dragic, Brown, Tucker, Scola, Gortat lineup.

As for the 5-10 game increase AttL, how many games have we missed the playoffs since 2010?

Gentry keeps trying to duplicate the 2010 dual lineup, but seems to not realize that he doesn't have the same players. This is yet another moronic thing he continues to do.

They don't really affect scores as much as people think they do (a lot of the game is just randomness), meaning they're not bailouts if the opponent has the "momentum" (whatever that means). Plus, the opponent gets to use the 20 seconds or minute as well.

Look, it's a long story but if you investigate stuff like this you'll find that a lot of the stuff in sports that we consider "common knowledge" is actually complete bull, regardless if experts talk about it.

Really, you don't know what momentum means? :o I've coached before, I know how to use timeouts, and I know when I should have used a timeout. I never said it was a "bailout". I don't feel that it is "common knowledge", and I don't feel it's bull. I guess we will just have to chalk this up as a disagree thing.
