And Mayo is playing better than James Harden right now, certainly that is worth a double-digit contract if not even max.

He wanted $10M FROM THE SUNS to play for THEM. He knew the Suns would be awful for the next few years, and wanted to take advantage. Dallas isn't amazing this year, but they're in a hell of a lot better shape than the Suns. I'm sure they could have worked something out, but he's not the game-changer that the Suns need. Having said that, I'd much rather see him signed for $8-9M/yr for 2 seasons, than Brown being signed for anything, for any amount of time, which you'd know if you were around for my vomit.gif spree when Brown did get re-signed.

Also, Harden is a better player than Mayo. I don't really see Mayo as being "the man" in Dallas, like Harden is expected to be in Houston. I'm mostly pissed the Suns couldn't grab The Beard while he was up for the taking.

And... LOL at the idea of giving Mayo a max contract. :o

I scoffed at the idea of giving up Dudley and Gortat in a package for Harden. I was also for the signing of Beasley. I don't think I've been wrong this many times in such a short period of time.

I should be demoted back to ballboy

This is exactly what I've been saying.

The max isn't what it once was. If Dallas decides to go in a different direction (Dwight-Love) then they won't resign Mayo.

10/year is what we're playing for Beasley/Brown.

Spiltmilkin ?

You can indirectly blame the front orfice for not having any desirable rooks/youngsters for dealing. A package of Marshall and Morris doesnt get much. You see who OKC wanted from Wash? Beal and Singleton +, you se who they got.... They were looking for wings and all we have is prayers.

This Blanks dude has remained a lurking shadow behind every deal. Insulated by Babby...
who gets credit .. who gets blame ?

Now we have a situation spawned from desperation. He (or whoever) almost needs to make a move to save his job. Other GMs sense this and lie waiting in the underbrush.

Perhaps Ceballos was right.

He's only been here for 2 years, and he was handed a team with aging stars, bad contracts, and no young talent to speak of. He got something for Nash, he got rid of Lopez and Warrick (and received a late 1st in the process). He signed Dragic. He signed Tucker.

Beasley, and possibly Marshall have been the only busts. I'd include Brown, but the SG market is thin, and his contract is only partially guaranteed in the second year.

Can't blame Blabby much either. The contracts are pretty good.

But I don't have much faith as long as Sarver is still owner.

We could have gotten Mayo! And they told him that Jared Dudley would be ahead of him. WTF?? That's a mayor ****.

The critical failures this offseason were:
1.) Thinking Beasley was any good
2.) Thinking that Dudley is a 2-guard, when in fact he is a small forward
3.) Not going harder after Mayo

By most accounts, the biggest reason Mayo didn't sign here wasn't money, it was the Suns telling him he'd have to come off the bench. After we missed out on Gordon, we had a gaping hole at the 2, and yet our management told Mayo he was definitely a reserve? That's ridiculous.

It would interesting to see 'whose guys are whose' in the front office. I wonder how much input Gentry had with the decision to sign Measley and Brown, and to pass on Mayo. Surely he could look at this lineup and realize he'd be getting 30+ minutes a night. All he had to do was beat out Dudley, Brown, and ???? BTW, did we even have Brown inked up during his negotiations ?

Hindsight is a black eye when it comes to OJ, but really, if he wanted a guaranteed starting position, what does that say about him ? He wants a big payday, and thus signed a 1 yr cheap deal. You can say all you want about why he did not come here. I am inclined to believe is/was all about money.
