I'd accept a lotto protected first rounder in 2014 draft for him.

Just reading through this thread and saw that twitter quote on the first couple pages, just shows how delusional our front office is,

Blanks is the biggest idiot out there. Just look at the draft interviews the season prior or the introduction press conferences by Johnson and Beasley.
Hill on Nash going to the Lakers: “That’s like transferring from Duke and going to Carolina.”

lol, I'd be happy with a late first. Even early 2nd, since the contract isn't guaranteed.

It is much more straight forward to retool when your cornerstones are in place. The Suns have no cornerstones, so they do not have that luxury.

Rebuilding through the draft when the team isn't any good, and only having mid first rounders to work with is probably the worst possible scenario.

+1

- Suns do not have any attractive assets to trade for Star FAs.
- Suns have aging role players save Dragic who is a starter role player type... From another team's point of view... Very bad trading partners.

- Constantly fighting for late lottery picks whilst hoping for a Star FA to come is negligence.
20 other teams are on the market for star FAs.. 10 of them with top 10 picks... See my point above.
Star FA acquisition via just big money offer sign-off is a high risk way because of the Restricted FA clause, Derrick Rose clause, and the fact that Lakers, Celtics etc are also going to be on the market within the next 2-3 years and have assets to clear space to sign new stars.

Sun have to build through draft for the next 2 years anyways IMO... To get 1. assets, 2. be attractive to FAs.... Which will boost leverage in trades... It simply get to draft the next star(s).

Marshall blows. Don't think he'll be anywhere close to where the Suns FO wants him to be. I can see him being bounced around the league before playing overseas.

How about Marshall, Johnson, and our 2013 second rounder for Brewer, Q Miller or Fournier?

The thing is and this is pretty much fact: You can't build a winner if you don't draft well. If you want to build a winner you have to capitalize in the draft.

The draft is the only reliable pretty much FREE asset generator in the NBA that allows you to increase the assets on your roster for cheap.

Lakers - Kobe/Bynum
Mavs - Dirk
Spurs - Duncan/Parker/Ginobili/Leonard/Robinson ..
Miami - Wade/Haslem
Cavs - Lebron
Golden State - Curry
Clippers - Griffin/Jordan
OKC - Harden, Durant, Westbrook
Memphis - Gay, Conley, Gasol
Detroit - Prince
Boston - Pierce, Rondo, Davis etc
Portland - Roy/Aldridge
Phoenix - Amare/Marion

You can go back and analyze championship contenders in the past and you will find that all teams have acquired absolute KEY players to their success in the draft without exception.
You could also include identifying 1st year players still on their rookie contracts as a recipe as the Suns did with Joe Johnson or the Pistons with Ben Wallace I think.

New York right now is an exception but even they had to acquire draft assets first in Galinari and Chandler to deal for Carmelo who forced his way to New York on top of that.

I like to think that we actually took Garrett in the lotto and Kendall was the walk-on.

The stats make more sense that way.

Id rather see him get playing time and see what hes worth rather than shipping him out or giving up on him like we have done on many other players.

Id also like to see Morris start over Scola. Scolas been playing great but we arnt in the buisness of winning atm. Id rather Morris get the extra minutes.

I knew we were in deep **** when I watched the NBA draft and the commentators were making every lottery pick sound like a future hall of famer. Then when the Suns drafted Marshall the commentators agreed that he "might" become a solid player someday.

LOL. Our front office sucks. Our franchise is now a joke.

Now? It's been a joke for a year or two now. I like Kendall, but I'm not seeing anything else more then a very poor man's Andre Miller.
