I can just imagine the FBI coming to a Suns game and arresting Hunter on the sidelines.

Just when you think it can't get any worse... I feel like they're trying to sabotage us.

Did you mean Hunter? Isn't Hunter the one who is being investigated?

My mistake. All fixed now. Thanks for pointing it out!

You should listen to this Jeff Van Gundy interview. Great stuff.

I respectfully disagree with JVG, other than Gentry being a good guy. Gentry has not gotten better each year. He continued to make the same mistakes as he did when he first started coaching. His discipline sucked, sucked!! I wonder if JVG would sit his starting pg and center eight minutes into the fourth.

Oh well, it's all moot now. The timing of the firing is just as stupid as our FO drafting. :( Gentry should have been fired at the beginning of the season, or even better, two years ago. But late January? Bad habits have been formed already, and at this point a coaching change could hurt our draft pick or hinder the confidence of some guys, not that I think our FO will choose the right kid in the draft or that losing hasn't hurt some guys.

Yes, not a great team, but that does not change Gentry's moronic coaching moves and lack of discipline. Everything I disliked about Gentry's coaching, had nothing to do with the talent, or Gentry personally, just his coaching.

Isn't it weird that the local and national media, experts and analyst, Suns olayers as well as most fans agree that Gentry was a good coach yet you still disagree? Look, I respect you as a poster here and I respect your opinion but everybody knows that you didn't like Gentry. He's gone, don't bring up the same stuff again and again there's no foundation for a discussion on this anymore. This horse is beaten to death.

There are several other candids on that interview for instance Van Gundy talking about young players shouldn't get playing time just because they are young players.

I didn't bring it up. You did. You guys constantly try and validate this "Gentry is a good coach, and it was just the roster", and this article by JVG says nothing about what I disliked about Gentry's coaching. But please find me the expert that says that sitting your starting point and center way into the fourth is what all good coaches do. Also none of them address Gentry's complete lack of discipline. I will not bring it up again, but if someone else tries to validate Gentry's coaching with experts that never address what I've brought up, I will continue to point those glaring deficiencies.

I respect you as well, and I have to believe that you didn't like Goran and Gortat sitting that long in the fourth. And you have to dislike our guys chucking whenever they feel, with little to no disciplinary action.

Come on, every Suns fan sees Stern as the devil himself. Personally I believe Stern is a good commish and you just have to look at how the league and basketball evolved during his tenure to know why.

At one point he seemed good,I will agree. But we have no idea how he went about it. Personally I think he is a corrupt arse, that cares more about himself and his brand, than the fans. My hate for him stems from his "letter of the law" speech, and then followed that with letting his refs off after they were caught gambling. His threatening of players, with his, "I know where the bodies are buried", and the constant bs that I've seen over the last decade.

Gambo, swearing by his source: "I swear to this, I'll take this to the grave with me. I believe the plan was always to fracture the coaching staff. The plan was always for Lindsey to be the coach. They wanted Gentry out because they didn't hire him. My source tells me that Hunter had dinner with Chauncey Billups earlier in the season and said that he had a great chance at becoming head coach this season."

I would love to have Billups as the coach.

Ah, wasn't clear. Hunter told Billups that he himself(Hunter) was probably going to be the coach this season

I would even take Cassell over Hunter, and I don't really like Cassell.

It's crazy how much drama is being pushed around. I feel bad for the players, drama is the last thing this team needs.

via Coro:

“Definitely more and more discipline,” Suns center Marcin Gortat said of the differences under Hunter. “We’re definitely doing everything sharper, quicker, more intense. Obviously, practices are way, way longer. At the same time, we actually are getting better. The results will show if this thing is working or not working.”

Gortat often talked about his seasons playing for Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy with great admiration and his comments on the early days of Hunter’s regime sound like he is seeing what he valued from Van Gundy.

“That’s how I grew up in the NBA being in a great system like Orlando Magic and Stan Van Gundy,” Gortat said. “Everything was sharp. Everything was disciplined. Everything was on time. Everybody was doing it the right way. We didn’t fool around. We didn’t joke around. We didn’t talk around. We were just doing the right thing and he’s trying to bring that mentality, that focus and discipline here. We’re on a good way to being a better team.”

Amen RDG.... we all knew about 20 games in that the season was going to be a rough one. The natural progression resulted in implosion. No need for assumptive finger pointing at this time.

So now we have a new coach, which is at least lateral move... an perhaps an emphasis on developing some new players, or at least seeing what they actually can do. Many have called for Marshall to get more PT... same for Johnson... I guess we might as well see what they have to contribute, in order to see how they fit into the long term plans.

Measley is still a question mark... I kind of feel for the guy, as he appears to be a coach killer, going through twice as many coaches than teams in his short career. If he doesn't ever 'get it', it is not a colossal loss. He was a gamble from the get go.

If anything, the moves made last off season have put us in the best position for a draft day party as what we have seen in a long time. Tankers should be thankers if you big picture this ****.

The non-support for Hunter is dumbfounding. I understand the sympathy for Gentry, but in no means am I upset with his departure. And what would you expect VanGundy to say anyway... he is part of the coaching fraternity. Pity he didn't comment on Hunter, I mean, I don't profess to know much about him, but I am not going to fill in the blanks with conjecture based upon an underlying current of dislike for Sarver and his 2-jive-crew.
What ? Me Worry ?
