It doesn't matter, unless you're paired with Amare and your backup is KG and Duncan you're not playing anything resembling defense if the team is that bad defensively with you on the court and suddenly gets way better when you go out.
Jefferson individually may be a better player than Gortat mainly because of his scoring ability but you HAVE to make him a featured player and pound the ball to the post to use him effectively. Now 64% of his offense comes from post ups, isolations or offensive rebounds, he's not a pick n roll player and you won't offset his negative defensive impact by not utilizing him heavily. Taking him means Al Jefferson is going to be a cornerstone of the team for couple of years and I don't see any sense in building a team around Al Jefferson since we've seen how that works in Utah.
