Nice, but meaningless and inflated by quality of team.

Jazz DRTG with Jefferson on the floor is 111.3 which would be good for the worst defense in the league. When he goes to the bench Jazz DRTG is 103.5 which would put them in top 9.

Nice, but meaningless when you consider that Jefferson is a starter and when he goes to the bench the opposing reserve frountcourt is most often in. Plus, the Jazz have a starting quality C coming off the bench against 2nd units - is it a surprise that the Jazz hold an advantage over opposing front courts when the starters are sitting?

Listen, we can slice stats to our advantage all afternoon. Point is, Jefferson is no worse that Gortat has been this season.

It doesn't matter, unless you're paired with Amare and your backup is KG and Duncan you're not playing anything resembling defense if the team is that bad defensively with you on the court and suddenly gets way better when you go out.

Jefferson individually may be a better player than Gortat mainly because of his scoring ability but you HAVE to make him a featured player and pound the ball to the post to use him effectively. Now 64% of his offense comes from post ups, isolations or offensive rebounds, he's not a pick n roll player and you won't offset his negative defensive impact by not utilizing him heavily. Taking him means Al Jefferson is going to be a cornerstone of the team for couple of years and I don't see any sense in building a team around Al Jefferson since we've seen how that works in Utah.

I'm not sure I would blame Utah's performance on building around Jefferson - though I can understand the sentiment - mainly because Utah has seemed very directionless to me over the past three years.

And for the record - I think it would be valuable to have a post game in PHX. You always hate to hear the word "ISO" as it partains to any part of any game, but the Suns have zero post game from our frontcourt currently and I'm not so sure spicing it up a bit won't help.

I don't mind spicing it up but Jefferson's post game is more like a barrel of tabasco than a tablespoon of salt.

I agree with this. I don't think he's a high enough impact player to be featured as our cornerstone guy for a few years.

Would Jessica Alba be a better fit for us then Jefferson and Hayward?
