Sort of OT? Article about high price of beer at Suns games

Post#1 » by TheXgasm » Thu Feb 28, 2013 7:46 pm

The Phoenix Suns have the most expensive beer in the NBA, weirdly, while Spurs and Thunder brew the cheapest

At 19-39, tied for last in the Western conference and on their way toward a third straight postseason-less season, the Phoenix Suns would seem to be in line to give their fans a break. Something to help the team escape its Michael Beasley-rich experience. Something to warm the taste buds, as you prepare to shovel a nacho or 12 down your throat. Something that doesn’t cost, in a small NBA market, nine bucks.
Tough hops, Suns fans, because the average price of a beer at a Phoenix Suns game costs $9, tops in the NBA – tied with the massive market New York Knicks. Cork Gaines came through with the findings on Wednesday, and you can find your team’s ranking here, at Business Insider.

Can't sell tickets, so they have to make their money somewhere.

That is expensive. Thought beers in America would be dirt cheap.

$9 for a beer at a Suns game is spot on. But like nevetsov said, gotta make up money when you are not selling tickets, jerseys, season ticket packages, etc etc
Looking forward to the 28-29 season.

Not surprised by this in the least bit. One of the worst and most pathetic teams in the league yet they have the highest prices in the league LOL. Sarver should pay THE FANS to drink so that nobody is forced to watch this joke of a team sober. It blinds my eyes when I watch this team play

Back in my home country we brewed our own beer in secret breweries in the mountain's connecting South Korea and North Korea. However, studies found that the beer contained high levels of Uranium, and were discontinued. Therefore all beer in barrells were kept in a Top Secret Storage Facility on Jeju Island.

Recently though, the barrells were missing, and a National Security Warning to spread out amoung the people. The beer was later tracked to an Arizonian Businessman by the name of Robert Sarver.

There you go folks. $9 Beer for you, filled with the stuff that makes you glow.

Depends on where you go, what you're drinking, etc.

Average place, you're going to pay anywhere from $2-4 for a pint of regular ol' domestic brew (Bud/Miller/Coors). If you're drinking import, tack on an extra dollar. If you're drinking craft brew or local brew, that extra dollar usually applies too.

If you're in Scottsdale, tack on 2 more just for fun.

If you're at an ale house (like Angel's Trumpet or Copper Blues) it will be more pricey but you can get some seriously excellent beers. PS if you havent been to Angel's Trumpet Ale House and you love beer, do yourselves a favor and go.

Argh. I'm going to Suns-Rockets on April 15. Might need to budget for 1-2 less brews dammit...

Beer-gate: Report of league-high Suns’ brew prices is exaggerated

Say a lot of things about this Suns season but don’t you dare claim they have the highest beer prices in the league.

A much-repeated businessinsider.com report raised the ire of some people inside the Purple Palace by claiming that the Suns shared the title of highest small draft beer price in the NBA at $9 with New York. Actually, the Knicks do charge that for a 16-ounce beer, according to the November 2012 Team Marketing Report. That report also listed Phoenix with a $9 beer but noted that it was for a 24-ounce beer. A 16-ounce draft at US Airways Center runs $5.

The average cost of a beer among US Airways Center’s 11 offerings is $6.83, which is below the $7.08 league average.

Man stop with your facts! Everyone here just wants more reasons to hate Sarver, whether they be actual truthful reasons, or ones just made up by bitter fans like themselves.
