Dragic Since the ASG break

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Sat Mar 9, 2013 5:38 am

While he still has areas of his game to work on, as the Suns continue to figure out who they are, but I wanted to point out how well Dragic has done since the break.

Just did some basic figuring and from what I can tell Dragic has averaged 14.5 points, 10.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. For those of you wondering the assists and steals numbers would be good enough to be tops in the league if he did that for a season(since rondo is out). That is pretty impressive. We are losing, and we need to keep perspective, but that is tremendous progress for him.

Thoughts?

Seems playing with more O''Neal and Marcus Morris instead of Gortat and Beasley has payed huge dividends for Goran.

I like the Marcus Morris acquisition and he's much more capable than Beasley. That's definitely helped Dragic a bit because he doesn't have to watch Beasley for ~20 minutes a night anymore when they were on the floor together. As far as Dragic himself goes, he's definitely our best player. I reckon this team would be the worst team without him. And as our best player I hope he's not too upset with the Gentry firing. But that report on Hunter in another thread suggests he's doing just fine with the new coach.

I think Goran is silently turning into a well rounded point guard. He is really just now starting to come into his own so hopefully when the Suns get some better talent around him he should thrive even more. I really think his tutelage under Nash in going to pay off big time. He will never be the outside shooter Steve is but Goran is obviously alot more athletic than Steve ever was.

I've enjoyed watching Dragic develop over the years and he's really coming into his own this season. It's been a down season for us but it's good to see him playing through adversity and coming through as a better player. If only we could get some better help for Dragic, then he'd really shine.
