I think Goodwin is the type of player McDonough has drafted in the past...a guy who was once projected much higher, but fell due to some concerns. There's a lot of good talent at the end of the first, so I have a long list of guys I'd be perfectly happy with selecting.

I did have a long list but have soured on most of them. There are not but a couple guys I'd consider as beneficial acquisitions.... guys who could contribute, or may be worth something in a trade in a yr or two....

Reggie Bullock tops my list now, as he may be the most complete wing outside of Porter. I will bet he goes in the early to mid 20s though as some mocks predict. Should kept quiet about him JVC. 8-)

I like Muscala too, as he could step into the vacancy Frye will leave. Smart, legit size, good shooter. Should get PF minutes too. This guy has a ten yr career written all over him.

Erick Green is my PG pick.... the kid can put it in the hoop, period. Did it all yr. An ankle breaking blur on the court.. Kabongo is a close 2nd to him... both, IMO, better than Marshall.

There... a Big, a Wing, and a PG.... take your pick McDo

If you make a trade to pick up more cap space this summer, it might be wise to make a trade to turn the 30 into a couple seconds, and stash some Euros.

First rounders used on Euro's take a nip out of a team's cap space, but they don't get added into lux calculation. For years, POR had a $2 mil hit to it's cap space for using first round picks on Claver and Freeland, even though they stayed in Europe. It didn't matter when they weren't a cap space team - they didn't cost cash, they didn't have cap space, and they didn't affect the lux. Another example would be MIN this year, who will probably use their #26 on the best euro. They won't have cap space, but are concerned about the lux.

Perhaps you can find a team that has the right team salary that they'd swap their unguaranteed salary top 2nd for your guaranteed salary top 1st?

Taking a quick look at 31-35, CLE, HOU and PHI are cap space teams, but maybe OKC would swap 30 for 32?

Another option would be to trade for multiple 2nds, or use it as some other minor trade incentive.

I know it's fun to prognosticate this time of year, but it's a crapshoot to come up with a useful player with the 30th pick - at least a gamble to find one that is worth the cap space at a perfect time to use it. Unless the suns have a guy they are really targeting still sitting on the draft board at #30, it may be wiser to trade the 30 and get the guaranteed $1 mil in cap space.

It's not the money - it's the cap space.

Sarver would "spend" the extra cap space to get a better player or more talent.

#30 leaves the door open to be 'Tucker-ed'. I hope McDo can pluck a nice feather for his cap there. m
At #57... may be we stay local and take one of Solly Hill or that ASU cat Felix. Stick 'em the D League..... they both seem like scrappers, but I haven't watched much of either (1-2 games)

Scorers don't translate always, but Erick Green is intriguing.

If we take Noel at #5, which I'm praying we do, Ricky Ledo is my first option at #30.

Dude has crazy talent.

More on Erick Green:

He wasn't very good up until this season. He is quick, can shoot the ball, and can pass the ball. His stats in college show a steady improvement.

FR: 02.6 ppg, 0.9 rebs, 0.9 assts, 29.3% FG
SO: 11.6 ppg, 2.3 rebs, 2.7 assts, 31.4% FG
JR: 15.6 ppg, 3.3 rebs, 2.8 assts, 43.8% FG
SR: 25.0 ppg, 4.0 rebs, 3.8 Assts, 47.5% FG

At 30, you can't go wrong.
