That would mean Frye plays all his minutes at SF, and Plumlee also spends time there..?

That doesn't have to mean that they play those minutes every game does it? Maybe some guys play more minutes one night, less another, and some sit out a game. But if it was every game, then there would be eight minutes of Len and Gortat playing together. :o

It's average minutes over the course of the season. Obviously, they wouldn't be hard numbers for each game... I was just trying to say that all the young guys should be given a ton of time to get used to the NBA game, and get experience going forward.

I'm o.k. being the only one to say this, but I think Dragic should come off the bench in the Ginobli role. To be clear, I also think he's the best player on the team, but I think that second unit is going to have a rough go of it. I'd like to see Bledsoe-Goodwin-Green-Keef (until Frye is 100%)-Gortat as the starting line up. Then Dragic the first super-sub. Followed by matchup dependent use of Frye, Marcus, Plumlee, Len, and Tucker. That's 11 guys. Most nights I don't think we'll go that deep.

That`s not a bad idea in theory but I don`t think Dragic would be delighted coming from the bench on a lottery team.

In a couple of years if Bledsoe and Goodwin reach their potential it certainly would be handy having player like Gogi from the bench. It would be easier to persuade him to be 6th man on a playoff/contender team.

I'm as big a fan of Goodwin as the next guy, but he's done nothing to warrant starting this season, let alone without any regular season minutes under his belt.

Maybe re-visit it at the midpoint in case our roster has been shuffled, but he's looked really lost at times on offense. His length and speed looks like it could be a real asset on D, but he's nowhere near ready to contribute 25mins+ like some are suggesting.

There's 'blooding' youth and giving them opportunities, then there's throwing them in the fire - he's a confident guy as you can tell from interviews etc, but we don't want his confidence being dented too much too early.

He's better learning the nuances of the NBA game from the bench at least for a couple of months, gaining playing time vs second units where he'll hopefully stand out and gain experience as a focal point of the bench unit.

This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon and I don't think we should risk Goodwin's potential by having him struggle early.

If he earns the starting role by playing well, then fine, but giving him it to me would be far more risk than reward this early in his career.

We are not bringing Goran off the bench. If we wanted someone like Goran coming off the bench, we should grab Zoran, and kick Brown to the curb.

How high do you think the Jazz are on Trey Burke? Hayward, Favors and Kanter appear poised to make the jump to established NBA players this season and Burke will still be a few years away from being able to lead a team. If they don't want to waste a few years of their talent perhaps they'd be interested in a veteran floor leader in his prime like Goran?

Something like:

Jazz out: Burke, filler
Jazz in: Dragic, Courtney Lee

Celtics out: Lee, Crawford, one of Sullinger/ Jeff Green, filler
Celtics in: Gortat, Marshall

Suns out: Dragic, Gortat, Marshall
Suns in: Burke, Crawford, one of Sullinger/Jeff Green, filler

Hands the reigns over to Bledsoe and adds a couple of young pieces that can fill the holes until Goodwin and Len develop.

I fully agree Tastic. I think some people should cool it a little on the Goodwin hyperbole. He has impressed for a player of this draft position but he has by no means taken the starting SG slot by the throat. I think we should bring him along gradually, play him about 10 minutes a game at the start of the year and let him work his way up the depth chart. No reason to throw him to the wolves, because as you said, him getting torched every night could evaporate that confidence that everyone loves.

And nevetsov, the Jazz made it very clear this summer that they are in a youth movement. I really doubt they're going to ship off their starting PG of the future because they want a veteran presence on their lotto team.

But that's just it, Burke is the future. Hayward, Favors and even Kanter appear poised to be ready to go now. These guys have been in the league for 3-4 years now, do they really want to waste a few more waiting for their future PG to develop?

I jut think a guy like Goran, who IMO is easily worth the 13th pick in a poor draft, would not only make them competitive sooner, but also accelerate the development of Hayward, Favors and Kanter. It's not like Goran has peaked or anything yet, he still has at least 3-4 more years at his peak.

But they dont care about winning now. They let two starters walk in free agency and then made a trade that gave them nothing but draft picks and dead weight contracts. A trade for Dragic would be a complete reversal on their behavior over the summer. And... no knock on Dragic... I like him, he is a solid player... but this would making their "win now" move... by picking up the 9th or 10th best point guard in the conference. It does not make sense for them.
