It's not just stats though.
He rarely gets good looks because he gets the ball late in the shot clock.
Plus he is a WIP as a shooter.

But his efforts as a defender is good... He also penetrates well on traffic.

Also playing 4 minutes and having 1 shot attempt and missing it then benched... You do this 3-4 games and I'm sure your field goal % wouldn't look good either.

I've seen him miss easy shots by the basket, by either rushing it, or not knowing where he was under the basket. He's young, so I don't fault him for those type of mistakes, but I can easily understand why guys get minutes over him.

I understand too why Tucker gets minutes and why Green... Not sure about Ish. He does rush shots but those are rookie traits..

But I really love his aggression driving... Pesky defense and on transition he attacks and goes hard to the rim.

My concern is his confidence.. But I'm sure Hornacek chats to him a lot and doesn't just sit him down without reason.

I'm not too worried about him. He will either earn his minutes this year or next.

Goodwin has been forcing it a lot when he comes in. If you dont reel him in when he plays like that you'll end up developing a player in the mold of Nick Young. The guy is only 19, he has plenty of time to learn the game and I expect he is learning as much, if not more, in practice everyday than he would learn out there on the court.

Why the hell is everyone so impatient with Goodwin here? He's shown a couple of flashes here and there but right now he is not more serviceable than Tucker/Green etc. Just have patience for once, give him some developmental minutes but any additional court time has to be earned. There's no sense risking chemistry when dudes like Frye, Green and Tucker are working just as hard as Goodwin (and that says something because it's clear Goodwin works hella hard). So if Goodwin keeps working, it's likely he'll get better and then he'll get minutes where he's expected to actually contribute something.
