How many games will the Suns win this season?

Post#1 » by Qwigglez » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:55 pm

As the current roster stands, how many games do you think the Suns will win this season?
I'm curious to see what Suns fans think of their team.
I'm gonna say 55.
3rd or 4th seed. Suns should be energetic this year. In the beginning of last season they looked like shells of their former self came out to play. With SSOL back, I think the Suns will have fun this year and take teams apart.

i was gunna say 55 too, there was A BUNCH of games last season that we should have won, but lost due to Porter's incompetence. Plus, we are back to SSOL.

I'm going to say 55, as well, as long as everyone stays healthy.

55 sounds good, but we shall see.

LAL, SAS, DEN, POR, DAL like i said yesterday i dont count houston as a top 5 threat... so hmm i dont think we get 3rd or 4th seed. probably 6 or 5 IF IF we're lucky haha but with all that said we should def. be back in the playoff's this year.

i excite for this season.

I don't think Denver will play as good as they did last season. The reason they played so well is because they were surprisingly good when they added Chauncy Billups.
I think Portland will struggle too.
Dallas is a toss up. We are as equal to them, if not better.
Nash> Kidd
Richardson> Barrea
Hill < Howard
Frye < Marion
Amare = Dirk
Barbosa = Terry
We have a better bench.

+1 on todos...Utah's always going to be a bad matchup for us as well, so I think this season will be challenging but entertaining as heck.

WOW... you guys must be in fantasy land.

I will be surprised if the Suns win more than 45 games with the current roster. Every major team out in the west has gotten better except us. How do you figure we will win 55 games?

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we won 45, but if we won 55 I wouldn't be surprised either. This roster has a lot of room one way or the other.

^ TRUE Suns fans know the return to SSOL will only do this team better.

Seven Seconds or Shaq created a more effective offense then SSOL ever did, except now we don't have Shaq's interior D/rebounding/scoring...that's why I'm wary of saying "hell yeah we're back!" because I think that SSOS worked pretty effing well for us...and then Amare went down.

Outside of LAL and SAS, I am not fearing any team. We lost Shaq, oh well. He played no PNR defense. We've won being a lot smaller than we are now. A lot smaller. We have Nash, JRich, Amare, Hill and LB. Those are solid guys surround by a good bench. Dragic, Duds, Lou and Clark. I dont care what people say, that team will win 50 easily. We won 46 and played like crap, through injuries, trades and coaching changes.

BTW, I can't wait until JRich goes buckwild this year.

To be honest, I don't think we got a whole lot better moving Shaq. Since moving Shaq, we've only brought in EC and Frye. While Shaq did hurt us at times with his PnR defense and him dominating the ball, he was still very efficient and got the job done. But Shaq was a good post defender because he was like a wall. I'm not sure I can say the same for EC or Frye in terms of scoring or defense. I agree with Rsavaj, in that SSOS did work quite well for us and then Amare went down. Hard to tell how far we could've gone. Thing is, Shaq stopped a lot of the average centers from being effective, but these same average centers are going to abuse whoever we have playing the post this season.

Amare I could see playing out of his mind since he's basically in contract year, but he can only do so much. We still need someone who can defend the post with at least a bit of confidence.

My prediction, if we keep Pavs contract for relief, I would say, 46 games. If we moved Pavs for . . . KT(?) we would probably win about 52-54 games.

I don't see ALOT of improvement from last year TBH.
Win about 47 games maybe catch a 7 or 6th seed.

I think the Suns main advantage this year over last year is they have a system and philosophy that the core players already know. They won't have to adapt to two different coaches and play a million different ways while goofing around with how to fit a square peg in a round hole (Shaq).
