Green is a good bench player because when he's on he can carry us but we don't always have to rely on him. Everyone has their role on this squad. I'm not sure any tinkering with the roster would be beneficial. There's such a great chemistry with this squad.

Nice to see another excellent game from the Suns  Bledsoe didn't even get his points, and they still destroyed the Clippers.

Made my day!

Plumlee FTW!

Green.... maybe coaching staff has got to him, but I´ll give it 20 more games to decide. "Catch and shoot, pass, no fancy plays"!

unless he is with you on a fast break then you throw it to him and get out of his way for the nice jam.

But really we should run some more lobs for him off a cut kinda like they did in 2010 with i think it was grant? who would cut from the corner and get the lob from nash?

"As we say around here, 'Just because you haven't done it before, doesn't mean you can't do it,'" McDonough said.

amazing how this quote just sums up our entire team and organization right now

first time gm proving himself
first time coach proving himself
and then you have all the misfits, castoffs, and people in others shadows who are coming together to do things no one expected them to do. Well done McDonough.

Does Gerald Green put the "jump" in jump shot or what? There was a 3 he took at the top of the key with about 60 seconds left in the 1st half where he jumps about 5 feet in the air. Lol. Dude has crazy hops even on his jump shot. Rarely have I seen anything like it.

Green would be benched under a strict coach like Popovic.. He nails those quick 3pt shots but man he would be benched under a strict system.
Quick shots, off balance and half the time contested... But he nails them on a decent clip... He has a Kobe-esque shot selection lol.

With Green, and basically with any shooter specialist, I am of the opinion that as a coach you have to take your chances. He is 'allowed' to take any shot he wants. After all, he is a shooter. But if he takes and misses a couple of bad shots, he needs to buy time. Otherwise he's headed to the bench.

What he needs to avoid is any kind of ballhandling and minimally complicated passes.

Plastic as fcuk, tho.

I am starting to think this too. If it ain't broke....

With all those picks and pieces like Archie and Len waiting in the wings the temptation to tinker is huge.

I was concerned early in the season when I saw Green and Horny getting into it a bit on the sidelines. It looked like they were having a pretty serious discussion (likely shot selection). That said, he has been pretty solid for us this year. He seems to be "on" at least 50% of the time. You cannot even compare him to Shannon Brown. Brown had 3 or 4 good games with us for his entire career here.

As far as trading picks for talent or holding the picks, it's really not a simple equation. Since 2000, we have had some 1st round picks absolutely flop (Casey Jacobsen #22, Žarko Čabarkapa #17, Sergio Rodríguez #27, Kendall Marshall #13, Earl Clark #14.

Trading any of those guys for talent to WIN NOW, is a good deal.

But as we all know, we have also missed out on opportunities to add guys like Loul Deng (#7), Rajon Rondo (#21), and Nate Robinson (#21). Having guys like those locked into rookie deals is pretty helpful.

I think the key is to maintain a balance of veteran talent and youthful potential. Our great teams of 2004-2009 had the great combos of Nash/Amare/Marion-Shaq, but we completely lacked any talent under 25 thus making trading those picks stupid. We really needed some young players with potential. This is part of the reason the past two seasons were so rough.

With our current roster, we have so many excellent players under 28, that we can afford to part with a few draft picks. Especially if we can get a superstar in return.

And even if we did keep 2 of our picks in the coming draft, when would they play? We are already 8 deep. That's 9 or even 10 deep if you count Archie and Len.

It may be time to trade 4 green houses for one red hotel.

Zarko was unfortunate. He just started to hit his stride, and Fortson ruined everything.

We never had Sergio, we traded him to Portland the same year we traded Rondo. Although it is unknown if Rondo would have found his game if he hadn't had the chance to play so many minutes in Boston. Most of the good picks we traded were scouted and basically drafted by another team. Clark wasn't too bad, but we often skipped better players to draft for need. :(

Too soon to tell if McD can draft well, but it's nice to not have to rely on those picks to make a difference this year.

Clipper fan @ sbnation on last night's game wrote:They remind me of a scrappy mid-major college team that gets by on guard play, hustle, grit, determination, threes, a pressing style defense that utilizes guards, one good traditional big man, and a few bigs who can shoot the ball from range. And their coach. It’s like a damn college scene over there and they’re slurping it all up and it’s working. I can’t even be mad. It’s awesome to see.

Now if we could have our fan-base attending the game act like a bunch of college students instead of the walking dead.

green and brown are completely uncomparable. just cause green shoots, he is like brown? cmon.

green does excatly what is needed out there. shoots quickly, passes the ball in time and plays good D.

on the other hand, the ball would just STOP in browns hands

As a former jumper...I think I can speak for Gerald Green.

When you can jump really high, it allows you extra time in the air to contort your body where an awkward jump shot turns into a set shot while you are hanging in the air. So focus on his shoulders when he releases the ball......they are square, thus it starts off bad, but ends up right.

Did that make sense?
