Besides, if you want a D+R big man specialist, I have to believe that there is something cheaper out there than Asik, especially if you have to deal with Morey.
I'd be interested in being a facilitator for a third team in an Asik deal tho.
Pau at least would offer a new dimension to our offense, and if nobody goes crazy, won't cost more than an expiring contract and a low pick although it's been reported that the Lakers want more than what the Suns are willing to pay and so the trade talks have been suspended.
what's with all the leaking and negotiating out in the open?
It serves three purposes. 1) it attempts to gain leverage in a negotiation where the party having leverage has little, 2) it is a PR face saving tool to smooth things over with the player and/or the core of the fan base, and/or 3) to see if the team can stir up a market. If you can figure out who is doing the leaking, you will have a clue as to what the party thinks their relative strength is in the negotiation. If you recall the Indiana trade, there were no leaks. The deal was done and the first news of it came out from "reliable sources", only a few hours before the formal announcement. Both parties kept tight-lipped about the negotiations. The same was true with the deal with Washington.
Draw your own conclusions as to who is doing the leaking and for what reason(s).
