Who Would You Rather Have Going Forward: Rondo or Dragic?

Post#1 » by AgentZer0 » Tue Feb 25, 2014 8:33 pm

As someone who follows the NBA somewhat religiously, one of my favorite things that's happened this season is the continued development of Goran Dragic. I don't get to see all the Suns games this season as someone without LeaguePass, but of the few I have seen, he's been exactly what I hoped he could be and more when I watched him as a backup for years. I'd like to hear from Suns fans who got to see him grow game to game over the years into what he is now and if you'd rather have Dragic than Rondo from this point on.

I wrote about why I'd take Dragic over Rondo in detail in this column if anyone cares to read: http://wp.me/4hoFI

I love Rondo. He is like a skinny Jason Kidd. Dragic can take over a game so I would keep Dragic over Rondo right now. But Dragic has become more of a combo guard this season. He was more of a pure PG prior to this year but changed his game to accommodate bledsoe. He started looking to score more. Rondo is a pure PG in every sense.

So I think you should have asked, would you rather have Bledsoe or Rondo going forward?
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Seems like a silly question. Dragic 10 times out of 10.

Everyone here will say Dragic for sure. I do wonder if you asked this on the General Board with a poll how it would come out (assuming Rondo is healthy).

But Dragic is a fan favorite, we drafted him, traded him, signed him as a free agent....kind of like we did with Nash.

I figured there would be some bias posting on the Suns forum obviously but I feel like the fans who follow them more intensely than I do can tell a story of how good he is. If the Suns were to trade Dragic for Rondo, which was mentioned before the trade deadline on ESPN as strictly a hypothetical, I was wanting to know if Suns fans would be excited about that or bummed out.

They'd be bummed. Even if he wasn't such a fan favorite, a Rondo/Bledsoe backcourt doesn't work nearly as well as a Dragic/Bledsoe backcourt because playing two point guards they need to be able to both score, and hit jumpers.

Dragic is a much better three pt shooter than Bledsoe which is important to spread the floor when Bledsoe has the ball. Rondo would be almost useless in this regard when Bledsoe had the ball to create offense.

Drag uc cause he's simply a way better scorer. Rondo is the better facililitator and defender but Dragic has him beat in everything else imo.
