OT - Where do you hoop in AZ?

Post#1 » by Gorilla Warfare » Thu Aug 20, 2015 10:30 pm

Hey guys, just a couple quick questions for you local AZ guys. Doing a little social research.

If you play basketball, where do you play? Indoors? Outdoors? If it's a gym which one? (Just looking for the name, not specific location).

If you play at a gym, how many courts do they have and is there usually a wait to get in on a run?

In Austin, if I played, currently I would play at LA Fitness, because that is where I work out, but I have a badly sprained ankle right now and I can't play basketball or anything like that. It's been that way for like six weeks.

I don't know if they have Lifetime Fitness gyms in Phx but I'm guessing they do...they always had plenty of games going on when I was a member at the one in Austin.

It appears that slightly more than half of our fans in this forum are not in Phx, and the ones that are in Phx might skew older I am guessing (considering newer fans are more likely to be from elsewhere whereas long time fans are more likely from Phx).

I wish AZ had an AND1 /blacktop scene. I just play recreationally now in the park near my house but pick up games are hard to come by. Haven't balled competitively since highschool

If you want to dribble some balls i recommend Charlies and the best rim rockers reside at Kobalt which are both on or near 7th ave.

I used to play at parks all around AZ. When I taught down in Tucson, I had a whole gym anytime I wanted. Cactus park has two full courts running through a larger full court. Either Encanto or El Derado park was fun but scary at times.

Here in Minny and in Cali, I play at LA Fitness.

Is the Village still around? 44th/Camelback area?

Excellent NBA size court. Lots of pros hooped in the offseason.

LA Fitness few times a week early in the morning usually there's no wait. Also, outdoors once in a blue moon with my dear friend ginobiliflops. ;)

I live like 5 min away from Cactus park and used to play there a ton but now it seems deserted whenever I come nobody really shows up. Instead of playing ball kids now are engaged in their ps3 or xbox or sexbot.

Where is Cactus Park? That sounds familiar.
