What are your thoughts on this? It's somewhat rare that a GM with a year remaining on his deal gets to choose a new coach.

Honestly, I think the conversation is more about Sarver/Babby/McD and that is where the change needs to occur.

Sarver and Babby are the only two people that have been around the whole time the Suns have become broken.

I agree. But unfortunately as long as Sarver owns the team, we have to live with his knee jerk decisions.

I understand booting the coach, but McD is and has been solid. If i have to deal with horny to keep mcd so be it. The next month will be career defining for both men. If we keep losing hornys gone and what happens to kief will be telling om how long McD has. All the markieff talk of "lack of options" to me is mcd gaining leverage. I think he get a good deal and the Mcd love will return. I do also like the fact Mcd is tied to horny. A gm and coach need to have open communication in most aspects to run a solid organisation...i.e. the spurs where the gm/coach/owner are all on the same page.

I don't see the point in moving either until we see how the team reacts to Markieff being traded. I don't think it will be good for our young guys to learn a whole new system partway through the season. McD has done a good job.

Our big issue is we keep having turnover, but this season it looked like all the guys were on the same page except Markieff and Goodwin to an extent. Since Markieff started, his impact was greater. It may take a while to flush out that cancer, or it maybe just getting one guy in return who is anxious to win. Attitude can be contagious.

I don't want Hornacek to be a head coach next season. He is good as assistant coach but not at head coach. We need somebody with more respect and idea how to organise team on offense and defence.

But I don't want McD gone. It's clear that he don't have full autonomy here. It's hard to blame him when we don't know how much Sarver affects his moves. McD is trying to rebuild the team with collection of talented young players agains owners will to make the playoffs at all costs. Imagine if a more submissive gm come in his place and do something like Booker, Warren, Len and 2 unprotected first for Howard. I'm sure Sarver would like that trade. Despite some bad movies McD worked good so far. Why risk new gm who may waste everything and change Suns into Brooklyn Nets?

I've been Hornacek's biggest supporter during his time with the Suns but I do agree that we need someone new. Whoever this new coach is may not solve all our problems or make us a playoff team but it's clear to me that the team has stopped responding to Hornacek and call him a scapegoat or whatever you want, but we need a change.

McD has been solid but he does need to delve deeper than the quality of the assets he brings in and look more into their fit. Every player he's brought in have been quality players but their fit are questionable.

Horny's departure will be forestalled until the offseason so that he can continue to be the tank commander and scapegoat. Once he gets axed the FO will be on the hotseat but if I feel McD and Horny are attached at the hip and go down together when push comes to shove.
