Completely on the same page. I think our youth is the future and we need to prioritise them developing into their long term roles. That's why I'm ok with dealing Knight, even if it is for negligible return, as imo the true value comes in creating development opportunity for the youth. We are loaded with picks so even if some guys flop, we at least will know where our holes are and can replace via the next few drafts.

I wouldn't be opposed to:
Knight, PJ to Sac
For
Gay, Collison, and the right to swap 2017 1sts

We pick up two expiring veteran placeholders that tide us over at backup PG / starting SF for the year, while Ulis adjusts to the role and Warren fully recovers from injury. Next year we hit the ground running with:

Bledsoe, Ulis
Booker (Barbosa)
Warren
Bender (Dudley)
Chriss, Len, Williams

With picks and capspace to fill in the holes.

The only issue I have with that trade is that Gay would eat up Warren's minutes this season. I would rather target a team with an expiring, overpaid SG and PG for Knight, to make the money work, with both being bench-role type players--picks can be added on either side to even out the value:

Bledsoe / (trade) / Ulis
Booker / (trade) / Jones Jr
Warren / Tucker
Bender / Dudley
Len or Chriss / Chriss or Len

That opens up even more cap space for next summer by offloading Knight (and helps our lockerroom, as clearly, Knight is not happy, and this gives him a chance to start somewhere else).

Now, I have no idea what magical team this is, but to me, that would be an ideal situation. IMO, Warren needs as much time playing with our starters as possible; he should be at least 90-95% by the start of the season, no?

Keeping Knight in the sixth man role seems more appealing every time I look at a potential Knight trade.

I think I know what you mean. For me, I'd say that while I'm not in love with the idea of Knight as our 6th man, I prefer it to what we'd have if we followed through on any of the trade suggestions.
