Whoever it is just get Booker open looks and Jackson driving against a moving defender.
Can't be that hard.

No more fringe player/coaches. No more "potential". We have plenty of potential on our roster. We need establishment. We need system. I don't know who that IS, but I know who it ISN'T. Guys like JVG come to mind. I'm torn on Patino because we need character, and whereas he does have the credentials to X and O our guys, we don't need a prostitute hiring HC on our staff. We need a guy our players can look up to, not someone with such a shaky past that guys question where his morals lie.
But above all, we need a rock. Someone who has a system, implements it, and gets our guys to go with it. No more coaches that learn on the job.

I agree with you, but generally a team is not expected to get that guy during the season.
In this case, however, I'd be down to see who might be willing/available to take over midseason. Then again, the best candidates probably won't be available until the offseason. Boo.

I think Balky would be a helluva coach. Its been sometime since Jeff Van Gundy has been head coach Professional guy, probably looking to get back into it. Not sure if he wants to work for Sarver but that guy would be a good hire!
I forgot about him.

I like van gundy but I get a little leery of guys being away from coaching for that long. Its been 10 years since he's been a head coach.
Listening to the solar panel pod and I find it funny they bring up someone like calipari is an option right now. Its so unrealistic to think a college coach would quit on the eve of their season to take this job. Hell this is the case with most NBA assistants too. All these are options AFTER the season but not right now.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Re: Lookin' for a head coach
I just wonder who advised Sarver to keep both Triano and Corbin.
They, like Watson have/had losing in their blood.
It seems to me that the most successful coaches and players have come from winning programs. That was almost a prerequisite to being hired in this league. What happened to that concept.
Hornacek had that in his background and had a great first year. Then the owner fires his key assistants to undermine him. Those assistants were from winning programs and I believe quickly found another job. The little guy, Longabardi, I think is with the Cav's and has a big voice in what they do.
I guess we live on a different planet from our owner. At this point we can only hope that things will get better. I approve the firing of Watson but am not convinced anything is going to change with Triano.
Messina seems like the obvious choice. A resume similar or better than the one that D'Antoni brought with him from Europe along with working a few years with Popovich. I would make an offer that he could not refuse.

This x 1000. I think he could be available now. Make him a good financial offer. Give him veto power on personnel decisions. I would not bother with an interview process. These guys are known commodities. The only reason you do an interview process is to make it look like you were objective when you hire some in-house guy. Just go after Messina.

Re: Lookin' for a head coach
MCD and Sarver are the problem. It doesn't take a genius to see the systemic problems with the organization. I have been a Suns fan for 3-4 years and I knew writhing a few weeks. I still don't get the MCD praise and never have. He drafted players that were picked right near their projected spots. His trades have been lateral at best. Most were awful IMO. Hornacek gets fired. Watson comes in to be the peace maker because the team is divided. I feel bad for Watson as I stated when he was hired. He was over is head. All this BS comes from the top. McD has been the coach for the last 4 years. Horny and Watson were puppets.

I like Messina but i dont think we have the team, or the fans, to allow us to play through the post and run half court offense. I offer up a good replacement for Messina in Jim Boylen. I think he would be a perfect fit for the Suns and Sarver.
Here is a link to the system Messina runs on offense. http://bmsi.ru/doc/f0fc952d-7d16-48ba-add3-dca393d2322f

Re: Lookin' for a head coach
Non - Suns fan take and 2 suggestions for the Suns next HC
David Vanterpool -- Blazer Asst atm but is considered one of the top asst coaches in the league atm BUT considering the Suns just went with someone with NO Head coaching experience i could see this being a bad idea for some
Sean Miller - Arizona Head coach -- With the FBI probe going on if the Suns ponied up the money he might be tempted to jump ship before he gets dragged down. He seems like a pretty good coach and would not have to worry about NCAA violations -

Re: Lookin' for a head coach
I think Igor Kokoskov is the best choice. I was really impressed with his Eurocup performance. I think Messina won't leave Spurs and please let Nash live his live, he is not interested in coaching and he is inexperienced. I want a coach who has experience.
