Embiid said they took the Suns lightly. I think it was Beal who said the same thing when we played them too. This team isn't good but teams who think they have a free pass will struggle to beat us if they don't take us seriously going forward.

Excuses. They didn’t take us lightly, we just whooped their asses. They doubled and tripled team Booker...they were all over him, he just took them out to the wood shed.

Just about the entire GB hates on Booker because he doesn’t play on their team. If Booker was on their team, they’d be claiming how great he was and the future of the league like they do with Porzingis KAT Giannis Simmons Kawhi and Embiid....but he is a Sun, so let’s talk **** and give him no credit.

He is the next James Harden, their games are very similar. Or if you want to say he's the first Devin Booker, sure, that's fine, he's a superstar SG I'm good with that lol

I hate trying to compare him to other players and prefer to allow him to become the best Devin Booker. Harden, Kobe, whoever? If I had to compare him to a player I wanted him to achieve the skills as, it would be Curry.

But since comparisons are going to be made, here is a comparison of their third years in the league:

http://bkref.com/tiny/2V8j1

Kobe was the youngest, but he also is not nearly as good as a 3 pt shooter as the others. Harden was older, and was by far the best 2 pt scorer of the 4 and the best at getting to the line. Curry was the oldest, so he had had more to to refine his game (even moreso than Harden) and was by far the best 3 pt shooter.

Most of the advanced stats favor the others, but this is primarily to defense, in which Booker is far behind the others. If he can continue to refine that area of the game, it won't matter nearly as much when he doesn't have these games where he is on fire.

Ultimately, as I started with, I don't want to say Booker is the next ____________ because it's a disservice to Booker. The sky is really the limit if he continues to work. Other than Kobe he is younger than these guys were in their third year so he likely has more upside than they did at that point. I don't want to limit what his upside can be by saying he can become as good as ____________ . The sky is the limit if he continues to work hard.

Regular range???

Yeah as in hit shots regularly from around the 30 foot mark.

Yeah as in hit shots regularly from around the 30 foot mark.

Look, I only seen about 200 of his basketball games, but even I know that you don't leave Devin Booker open from 35 feet. That's a bucket, foo!

lilfishi22 wrote:I can see both sides of the argument. With bigs being slower to develop, we may not know what we have until the end of Year 2 or Year 3 and by that time, if they haven't blossomed into something legit, their value would be a lot lower than right now. So I don't consider trading them as giving up but rather taking a calculated risk based on their projected development and cashing in now if a good deal comes.

That's always going to be the problem with building through the draft. You don't know what you have until 2-3 seasons down the road. I think you have your untouchables (Booker) and everyone else is potentially available and I just don't understand the hate for putting a guy like Chriss or even Bender in trades if it nets us something legit. This is particularly true for us when we have two guys (even though they are young) who are ready to take the next step. Waiting for Bender/Chriss/Jackson to catch up (if they ever do) could be dangerous.

This is true. If these guys don’t continue to develop then their trade value also decreases.

At the same time, we can trade them and they go off on some other team (think D’Angelo Russel).

But Russell was going off on the Lakers, people just didnt bother paying attention because BLEH its the Lakers. As Bwgood and I noted about a kajillion times last season, Russells stats were right there with Bookers.

And from what i have seen of Trae Young, he reminds me a lot of Russell.

I like D’Angelo Russel a lot and I knew he was better than how he was playing with the Lakers. I was one of the few who was down to trade Bledsoe plus one of the Miami picks for him especially because of close he is with Booker plus fitting our timeline.

Would’ve been great if we could’ve been the ones to absorb the Mozgov contract and then acquire some late 1st rounder in the draft somehow (traded maybe Ulis for one?) and then send the Lakers that pick.

Only two players I can’t recognize in that pic, gonna guess it’s Davon Reed and Troy Daniels.

When he's in the zone, it's nice to see those go in. Sometimes it gives him confidence to try it when he's not in the zone though, and it's not necessarily the best decision all the time.

This year he's made a major step from outside above the 3 pt arc though and is finally quite a bit above league average http://nbasavant.com/player.php?ddlYear=2017&ddlShotMade=&ddlTeamDefense=&player_id=1626164

after being close to league average last year http://nbasavant.com/player.php?ddlYear=2017&ddlShotMade=&ddlTeamDefense=&player_id=1626164

and being a bit under it the year before... http://nbasavant.com/player.php?ddlYear=2017&ddlShotMade=&ddlTeamDefense=&player_id=1626164

I wanted Russell to be paired with Booker pretty early in their careers but didn't really think much about it since I didn't think LA were gonna move him so early. I really pushed for a DLo trade when it became clear that LA were looking at those two max FA's in their near future and the Ball hype began to grow.

I would've thrown a lot at LA to get DLo. Unfortunately, we didn't move in that direction.

Btw off topic but Booker easily has one of the better fashion senses in the league. I’d put him top 5, this kid always knows what’s rocking and what’s trending.
