Worst part is that McDonough gave him a 1st rounder’s contract meaning his contract is more expensive and runs longer than the typical 2nd rd pick.

He was also drafted one pick before Brogdon iirc. Imagine having Brogdon with his size, defense and shooting next to Booker instead of Ulis...

I really think his NBA days are numbered unless he gets a consistent 3 point shot. He's always going to cause defensive issues due to his size so he has to become a good offensive player to counteract that. Right now he's below average in both areas.

He's been bad most of the season.

He just LOVES dribbling and dominating the shot clock. Never seen someone use up the shot clock so poorly.... second worst only to Mike James.

I don't think its due to him wanting to dribble that much but he struggles due to his short height so he always has to check how open he is or he gets his shot swatted rather easily.

He is fine coming off the bench but we absolutely cannot have him starting if he's as ineffective as he has been this season.

He isn’t a starting pg in this league. He really needs to work on his game to ever be thought of as one. I’m not sure why we continue to start him. If Canaan is out, I’d rather start Booker and Jackson in the back court, and Bender at the three if Warren is out. Then you have the passers you need to compensate for the lack of point guard. But that would require an actual offense system, which we clearly don’t have.

What are we going to do with Ulis tho?
We cant really piss him off because DBook 'drafted' him.
He's just stinking up all over the place and Canaan seems like the best guard by a mile.

That's why it was dumb to draft him. He can probably be a third string PG but we won't be able to use that slot for a potential up n coming guy or savvy vet so it could hurt. Only two more years, so his contract will be up when Booker has been in his next contract for a year.

I guess we have to hope that Knight is fully healthy next year and that he is under strict orders to pass first, at least he won't be a defensive liability to the extent that Ulis is.

If Knight can at least be a decent spot up/ catch and shoot 3 point gunner (35-40%), that's half of what we need from the PG spot. If he can relinquish his on ball mentality and concentrate on expending his energy on the defensive end, and be a decent defender, then at his price tag and age he'd be worth keeping around.

It's funny, I'm actually more worried about the physical limitations he will have to adjust to, than the mental transition for him (hoping a season out will mature him as a player and allow him to see what the team needs him to be).
