To sum it up: _79_ REALLY REALLY REALLY likes Majerle.

Does he have enough testosterone to coach a basketball team though?!

Stoppit.... this is so not true... cause Kanter would bust your ass if you looked at him or a teammate wrong.

Ayton is as passive as they come. Zero mean streak. No temper mon, such a dont worry be happy attitude. He's got his $$, his #1 status. I remember the bad feeling I got when they were introducing the draftees... he came out and showed off his new watch/jewelry I swear to god.

How do you coach up a bad motor? or a 'its OK to lose' mentality. He will get owned by any toughie. Really.... has anyone seen him pissed off yet ?

I cant figure out Igor yet.... but any team that doesn't foul when up by three like that has to either be not listening or weren't told. Which is it?

Now, Its time for a collage.... cant hurt.

Get him involved in the game instead of handing off the ball at the top of the key looking like a NFL QB giving the ball to a RB 9 miles from the hoop. Surround him with players who play defense and communicate.

you're hired...

but first you need to take the 79 T test

I agree though... got to engage this kid. like with some designed plays. He should be a pick and roll monster.

I don't think either of those things (Testosterone or getting angry) are problems for JMac in any way.

He pick and rolls with Booker and Canaan all the time and neither are able to get the pass in when the defense brings help. So far the only guy on this team who's been able to thread the needle on those kinds of passes is Okobo, and we played him 10 minutes last game. Why??

We are comparing photos and T levels of the coaches.
Some people are just clueless.

The focus on individual players is also a short sightedness that I see with most fans (and was the biggest problem with McD. He acted like a scout, not a GM). GM's build organizations. (Head) Coaches build teams. The individual players are just tools. We give them way too much credit.
Yes talent often wins. But honestly, almost every player in the NBA is supremely talented at the game of basketball. Good organizations build good teams with a singular vision and a path to get there (see San Antonio).
The teams that are trying to mimic either a) Golden State or b) Cavs (just get a super star and be done with it) are the teams that can't seem to win Championships (see New Orleans and Houston). (because they're wanna-be's and have no real vision)

I used to tell people, "I dont care which offense we run. I just care that everyone buys-in 100% and we all are running the same offense". Being on the same page, in the same rhythm, with the same goals and the same vision. That's what separates the winners from the losers. In business, in relationships, and in basketball.

I think its because Cannan showed a knack for getting hot from the 3 point line. People, even coaches in the NBA, get a hard-on for flashy stuff like ally oops and three pointers (assuming they dont have ED from Low T).

When bwgood first mentioned this I sort of focused on it too. But after more retrospection, I really think the issue was our defense down the stretch. They just started running and we just let them.

Sure, defense is always a huge problem but if he knocks his free throws down, we win. I mean heck, TJ was 8-8 from the line. Those 42,000 shots this summer helped...he's shooting over 84% from the line and over 46% from 3.

Defense is something you can largely control, for 48 minutes.
Shooting on the other hand is often up to the basketball gods. Great shooters can miss 15 straight.

I'd rather bank on what I can control. I don't disagree, if we made this shot or that shot or these free throws we would have won. Ayton also missed two free throws in a row (I have never seen that from him before). But shooting mechanics are so sensitive, any little thing can throw them off.
Defense on the other hand, is almost always about effort and communication (things we can always control). I find that teams who focus on defence, and also have good shooters, are often good offensive teams. I don't think Kerr spends a lot of time worrying about offense. I think that is a smoke screen. Its all about defense (and using it to fuel the break and open three's in transition). That's what Dantoni didn't get when he was here (and maybe still).

TJ is living proof that if you have discipline and are willing to look in the mirror, you can change.
Few people actually get better (or worse) at anything, once they become adults.
How many shooting coaches worked with Shaq, for example? Or look at Lonzo… like, just tuck your damn elbow!

I am inspired by, and proud of, TJ. (and how much has he improved his future because of it $$$ ? I guarantee teams are asking for him)
