Doncic would get crucified on the Suns as well because he would likely be used as a spotter or clash with the glut of wings trying to find space to do their moves and he'd get the Josh Jackson treatment.
It's the system... Always has been
Doncic thrives because he has specific role and there's no glut of wings taking his space away from him.
Josh would thrive too when he isn't being used to spot up and forced to one on one's up top to pull off Booker shots.
Igor is not a good fit
Need someone like Quinn or Pop or even Budenholzer... Not afraid to slow the offense down but focus on defense... Sure spurs suck defensively now but that's due to the player turnover they've had recently... Kawhi and Green out and also their PG is out

To all the Doncic knob polishers who consistently bag on Ayton on a game-by-game basis - the Mavs just got their asses handed to them by NOLA 132-106 (beaten every single quarter, as well), with Doncic pulling a monster 8 point, 4 board, 6 assist line on 2/8 shooting (1-4 from 3) out of his ass in the 22 minutes he was able to hang out there (and they were missing Smith Jr. tonight).
So - in all fairness, I want to hear some of the same criticism of Doncic from the aforementioned, or you all can kindly eat a bag of **** from now on concerning Ayton.
Yeah, tough night shooting for him on the b2b and without a PG. I'm sure with AD, Randle and Holiday over him they made it rough. Surprised he still had one of the best +/-.

Nobody's a good fit with the limited roster we have. I think Doncic would be fine with Igor having won a championship with him and him and Booker would play well off of each other and could both play on/off ball.

No, Ayton has it tough with no point guard and especially right now without any real primary scoring options against him. People are primarily upset with his defense though.
Doncic has been playing like the best player on a team with some pretty good players and hitting some game winners or at least closing shots to put a game out of reach. I mean last night was just a big contrast in what they brought.
But yeah, to be fair to Ayton, our two primary scoring options were out, he was working with two rookie PGs, and most of the rest of the team was off as well, and he felt after the first quarter that there was no way they were getting back into it.

So five years as an assistant coach and a couple has head coach. Kerr wanted him to instill defense into the Nash Suns and play more like the Spurs. The whole D'Antoni/Porter thing was Kerr having a disagreement with D'Antoni on how the team should play. Both have even said they wish they would have done things differently since then.
I've mentioned plenty of times why I don't believe the Gambo story about SGA. When I was reading the Athletic story I was thinking "I'm surprised Gina Mizell would write this BS" and then saw it was Bob Young.
I know a lot of people believe Gambo and probably also bought his "anonymous scout" stuff. The guy has been full of BS for a very long time. Heck, he tweets out WOJ's tweets about who is going in the draft on draft night as if they are his own.
He was the Kings assistant for 1 year, then got 2 years as Head Coach in Milwaukee before getting fired, 2 years in Detroit as an assistant, and like 50 games as the Suns coach before getting fired. 3 years as an assistant and 2 failed years as a head coach should not have gotten him the head coaching job of a 50+ win team. I have no doubt they wish they did things differently, you don't need hindsight to know Porter was a terrible hire.
Of course Gambo tweets Woj's tweets, he's literally the best in the business and Gambo is just a sports personality. Even beat writers retweet him half the time. And who cares whether it was Gina or Bob that wrote the piece, it's the same publication and Bob covered AZ Sports before Gina even worked in journalism. I don't know why you're acting like he's a random hack.
I'm really not going to argue with you over the validity of Gambo, but you're kidding yourself if you think he's been full of BS for a very long time. I don't even like him and I know you don't like him, but it's pretty easy to differentiate his opinion-based stuff (like the Doncic scout debacle) from what's actually coming from the horse's mouth. SGA had been linked to the Suns by far more people that just Gambo, it's really not as hard to believe as you make it seem.
I know they were trying to move up for a PG per WOJ, but could gain no traction on a trade was the report coming out from him. As far as Gambo, I guess I can only say since 2002 or so when I remember listening to him.

I have seen plenty of Doncic so far, and overall I can assure you that he is playing pretty well on his rookie season.
Yeah, he had a really bad game yesterday, but that is expected with rookie players. Doncic (like Trae, Bagley, Ayton...) is gonna have ups and downs and he is gonna hit a wall during the season. So many games in a short period of time for their first time in his career.
Doncic played a lot of games during last year, but he never played back-to-backs or three games in five nights...he is gonna struggle a bit with all of that.
Ayton is having a tough time since the Clippers game...he looks slow and a bit tired since that game and teams are defending him even harder with Warren and Booker out. His body is probably struggling with so many minutes and games too.
So we need to be more patient with Ayton and all the rookies because they are gonna have some downs absolutely for sure.
I am the first one that feels frustrated watching the games with his low motor/activity, but it makes sense to just giving him time to improve on those things (physically and mentally) during the long season.

Ayton looks physically fine. The Effort Issue is really a frustration issue.
This team and coaching staff have no answer right now (with Booker out). On offense, he's going to get double teamed or attract additional attention on the post. On PNR, teams are not giving him any space and allowing shooters to shoot when' he's rolling towards the basket. Unfortunately, the Suns shooters are in a bad funk right now. Bridges can't make an open shot; Crawford is one of the better shooter and he's off his game; Jackson can't come close to hitting anything; Okobo can't shoot; Melton surprised people with one good shooting game and it's doubtful he can't repeat it; Ariza gets a lot of criticism but he looks to be the best shooter right now. Daniels isn't really part of the core rotation. That's a bad group of spacing shooters right there.
So basically on offense, Ayton can't do squat. You can tell from his interview he wants to win, but there no obvious solution to fixing the Suns. it's just a really, really bad roster. If you listen to his postgame interview and read between the lines, it's clear that he's frustrated with his teammates.

That's what I'm talking about - no patience with Ayton, yet nothing but excuses from the now-insufferable Doncic fanboys. The way they talked up Doncic (playing in the "big boys' league" at age 19 and on and on), they set themselves up for embarrassment whenever he has clinkers - and there's gonna be plenty, from both Ayton and Doncic this season as they learn the game, form some chemistry with their teammates and their respective teams improve.
Only the trolling Doncic fanboys take any and every opportunity to show up, shake their heads and say "tsk, tsk, tsk - shoulda taken Doncic."
Just stop, be fair and let them both develop & mature.....
