This was a great performance, we played fast and with a lot of ball movement.

Saric played his best game so far. He helped a lot on rebounding and created offensively just making the right decision every time.

Bridges played a terrific game. He is already an efficient two-way player, he has improved his offensive game this past summer and looks bigger.

Oubre played a good game too. Way better than the last game. He has an scoring mentality , he just need to pass the ball a bit more on those drives to be less predictable.

Jerome and Cam Johnson played like veterans. Baynes was perfect and Kaminsky played his role great as a stretch big.

Tyler Johnson looks healthy again and ready for the season. It looks like he will play SG, he always was on the court next to Carter or Jerome.

Saric and Kaminsky at PF/C can give us a lot of space and options on offense. They played pretty well tonight.

I would like to watch them together on the court a few minutes per game if we are not killed inside the paint.

Just as long as we don't see Ayton & Kaminsky on the floor together like preseason game 2. I don't think Kaminsky should be the backup 4. He should be the backup 5 but we have Baynes so it may be the only place he gets playing time.

why we can flip flop baynes and Kaminsky, let baynes be the backup four and Kaminsky the back up 5 I think those pairings work better anyways

Fun game. Stylistically what you’d hope to see from both units by January.

Cam Johnson showing a lot of promise, what sort of expectation is there around minutes once reg season starts?

I have him as a deep sleeper in fantasy

Unfortunately I think he won't see many minutes since he is behind Mikal and Kelly in the rotation as a SF. He can get minutes as backup SG or backup PF but then there is Tyler Johnson and Kaminsky for that spot. Monty wants a 10-man rotation and it will probably be like:

Rubio - Booker - Mikal(Oubre) - Saric - Ayton
Jerome - T.Johnson - Oubre(Mikal) - Kaminsky - Baynes

Cam should get mintues too but I don't think he will get many with this rotation. If someone is hurt, then he is the first option from the remaining guys.

Edit: Of course it depends on the matchups and specific setups (if we need more shooting, spacing etc. or if it is garbage time etc.)

I think we might go with what you have listed but maybe in the second unit T Johnson at PG, Mikal at SG and Cam at SF at times.

Great fun game to watch but I do have some not great fun takeaways

1. Ball movements looked pretty spectacular when it wasn't being created by our two main creators (Rubio/Booker) and that makes me think that ball movement and pace will likely slow down with them back in the starting line up. Booker in particularity likes the ball in his hands, he likes to survey the court for a little while before making a move and that slows momentum down to a grind. So that spectacular ball movement we saw in this game probably won't be a regular guest in our games.

2. We were absolutely scorching from the 3. Yet they were right there with us, within single digits for most of the game. It wasn't until basically the last minute in the 3rd before we started to pull away a little bit.

I tend to agree with #1, and idk if Monty is blowing smoke or not(seems to be pretty open and honest), but he said that Devin is the best .5 player on the team in practice.

Meaning he's the best at passing or shooting immediately? That's good to hear, though I expect to see him dribbling quite a bit. Hopefully not too long though, especially if he receives a pass and is covered but someone else is wide open.

I know we're talking about less than a handful of games and in the preseason no less, but I don't think Booker slowing down posessions is new information. Not saying he's bad for the team but I guess just to bring osme fans back down to Earth about that 3PT shoot out we had in the last game isn't something that's going to happen very often and I don't think we'll give ourselves the changes to see it happen often either. That ball movement, off ball movement and hot shooting was awesome to see though.

On another note, I thought of Carter as a bit of a doppelganger for Melton in terms of what he brings (just toughness and defense) but he's a far better creator than I thought. Last season with Melton, we saw a ton of aimless driving and pass outs for resets but I thought we looked pretty good with Carter in the starting spot. Not saying I want him to start but as a spot starter, he actually did alright. I've been pretty impressed with Carter

I imagine he meant that he makes the right decision quickly, whether it's pass, shoot or drive.
