Elie Okobo the floor general.

Currently has 26 assist to 3 TO. Good for 8.66 AST/TO. Many thought he would be no more than a streaky combo guard due to last season but the composure we saw in spurts last season has become the norm. Where does he go from here? Manu of the next great suns team?

Small sample size. I need to watch more from him.

I was saying the other day I'm still pretty intrigued with his long-term potential. He has some real NBA ability to get to where ever he wants with the ball. Not turning it over is a good sign although he still has some decision making issues when it comes to shooting. At times he seems predetermined to shoot instead of letting a play unfold.

Defensively he makes young player mistakes but does have good size and athleticism.

He was a project when they drafted him and it's certainly good to see improvement but it's still early and who knows where he tops out. I'd guess it's probably bench combo guard but it's not impossible that he develops into more than that.

Edit add- just saw this Forbes article on Okobo

Elie's improved play is found money for the coaching staff - I don't think they expected him to amount to much at all after training camp. Hence the earmark to rely on Tyler and Jevon early.

If he keeps improving on his current play, he'll fully supplant Tyler/ Jevon as 9th man very soon (at full strength, bench of Okobo/ Bridges/ Cam/ Baynes).

And Jerome can be slotted right in there as a big guard too.
