You mean you had Pels +11.5? Or Suns -11.5?

Tbh Suns should have won this game without it being this close or needing a comeback. Pelicans were missing Zion and Ingram then lost Herbert Jones one of their better defenders during the game.

Even without Ayton and Payne, Suns still had Booker, CP3, and Bridges out there.

We are missing our starting and backup big, along with Payne. So have to play a 3rd string PG and 3rd string C a lot.

Luckily Kaminsky played about the best he's ever played.

We still shouldn't have struggled, but when Book shoots like that and takes that many shots, it's going to dig you a hole.

I think Monty deserves some credit for starting Frank in the second half. Kaminsky played some great stretches of basketball last year. He's certainly got a decent handle and touch around the basket.

I’m seriously worried of our team when Chris Paul retires. I guess I should appreciate what we have now.

Mikal Bridges looks great. I’m just amazed with how smooth his offense has looked so far this season. He’s our only bright spot early in the season.

Rebounding was not great with DA out. Frank and McGee held it down for the Suns while Ayton was out - nonetheless, super impressed with both’s performance though. I would rest DA against Houston on Thursday. Give him all the time he needs.

The hope is that our young guys would have developed enough that our Big 3.5 (with CamJo) can be elite with a starting level PG we find somewhere.

It is what it is when you trade for a 35 year old Chris Paul. You know there is a timeline on his effectiveness and playing days. It's a risk we took but we would not have a contender on our hands now if not for that move. So yeah, we should certainly appreciate what we have now and worry about that other stuff later.

Bridges has been the saving grace so far this season. This team is incredibly sloppy and very lucky to have come out with a win on this one. Monty needs to rein in a lot of players.

Valanciunas is no Chamberlain, so no.

Looking like him in the 1st qtr so far.

Looks like Suns called Bill Russel (Frank) to the rescue. ;)

I wonder if Booker's poor shooting is related to the new rules and defenders playing tighter. Look at the numbers of the other young stars around the league - Trae, Doncic, Fox. All are basically chuckers on low percentage.

Yeah, it's certainly better than continuing to miss the playoffs and hope those #10 draft picks pan out. Not sure I'd rest Ayton if he's feeling good. The Lakers are not great, but Houston nearly beat them tonight.

There are only 2 teams in the west with fewer than 3 losses, probably the top two teams...Utah who is clearly looking like the best west team has 1 loss and the biggest pt differential, and GS 1 loss and not far behind with Klay likely back in a couple months.

After that the Lakers have 5 wins and no one else more than 4.

Now the east...Miami is really killing people and like 8-1, and the Bulls with 1 loss and a pretty good pt differential as well. Knicks, Wizards and Sixers are the only others with fewer than 3 losses, under 2.

Frank usually does well with the starters. He struggles in the garbage units. I wouldn't mind him filling in as starter for Ayton when he's out and keep McGee as backup spot minutes for ultimate derpy hustle play. Suns were like 10-1 last season with Frank starting or something like that when Ayton was out for a stretch.

And I'll add the way we turned it over the first 2 quarters was beyond inexcusable for any NBA team.

I think it’s a combination of that plus being tired from having played so much basketball in the past couple months and the new basketball

I don't mind Booker missing shots. It happens and he started out slow last season too. The problem I have with this team is the effort. They just go through the motions at times and then they decide to start trying. It's evident. You could see it against the Kings in that game when they almost came back. They've had double digit leads in each game they've played (aside from the Portland game) and also been down a bunch in those games as well. They're too young to be "bored" out there. They need to play with the intensity they played with last year when we were one of the best defenses. They can't keep giving half effort out there.

Hopefully Booker's shots improve. He should have been working with this ball. Apparently others were. But when he already has struggled from 3 during his career, regressing there is bad.

And of course regressing from getting to the rim and midrange as stated by that piece I posted is bad too. If the ball gives him trouble, get to the rim.

Curry doesn't seem to have a problem as well as many others.

The rest of our starters played well...but Booker took so many shots it dug us a hole when no one else is getting shots until CP3 took over more getting others involved.

The turnovers is also what really killed us in the first half, primarily from Booker and McGee. Paul had 4 as well but on 18 assists that is still a 4.5-1 ast/to ratio which is very good.

Been sick so I been missing games lately. Will have to replay this one. Also didn't get to catch the Cavs game but I don't think I'll put that, but maybe.

They try to play methodical (as you would with CP3 at the helm) but the way they run their sets just look laboured and sluggish. It seems like they are meeting us whenever we attack. On the other hand, the Pels just look a step faster on offense and there's a level of dynamism to their offense which we haven't really seen since true .5 basketball from last season.
