Paul is 21 and 12 in the past 10 games, his ceiling is still there hopefully at full health for playoffs.
Payton -14 in limited game time showing again we don't want a Kaminsky situation by passing up specialist position depth then having to play him in a championship game.
Our rotation is still short to me, I'd like 3 upgrades (for a combo of Saric, Smith, Kaminsky, Nader, Payton):
Starters - Paul, Booker, Bridges, Crowder, Ayton
Playoff Bench - Payne, SG/SF, Johnson, McGee
Playable Backups - PG, Shamet, PF, Biyombo
Payton did well in this game. He played solid defense, had a block. He had 5-6 solid passes, catching guys in rhythm, they just weren't all finished, but still finished with 4 assists. He missed both his free throws, but did get to the line, and made the only shot he took. I would be fine with getting some minutes in a playoff game, but being our third string point guard, it is highly doubtful he will get minutes. The thing that is wrong with Payton, is Monty continually uses him as an off guard, instead of strickly using him at point.
