He's looked pretty decent. Not a terrible fill in for Payne.
I have never cared about triple doubles. For example Westbrook has not been great, but glad he is an active rebounder.
He is finishing better at the rim than usual too. The biggest problem with him is all his shots are within 10 feet, and from 3-10 feet he is at like 41%, so they don't have to guard him outside of that, which is why he often drives into several guys into the paint and tries to finish Oubre or Jackson style.
He is not a 3 pt threat at all, shooting only 1 shot all season, and if teams start fouling him at the rim, he only hits free throws at 50%.
Hopefully Payne is back soon for his elite 3 pt shooting and great ast/to ratio.

When asked how Fascism starts, Bertrand Russell once said:

Yeah no doubt Payton has been a great third string PG, and probably a really good backup PG for subpar teams. Though I'm not sure if he'll get much burn in the playoffs unless an injury of course.

Yup, and this is fine. He is doing a good job in his role, and this role (3rd string PG, 2nd in case of emergency) was subpar to non existant last year. This year we are well above average in this department. So really good signing here by Jones.
(I give him enough sht on all the other things he butchered, so giving credit where credit is due.)

I was really pleased with his performance against the Bulls. 8 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds with solid defense backing up CP3.
We already know that he is not a shooter but we can't ask for much more to a guy that is getting the minimum salary and is playing good enough when his name is called.

I still don't understand him playing with CP3 though, which he did last night. If he is in, he should be running point, with solid shooters around him, and for defense.

He has a few good games. I think his only issues are getting played out of position and trying to do too much when he does get in the game. When he lets the game come to him, he does fine. When he forces it, or tries to shoot too much, he turns the ball over or takes bad shots. I still feel fortunate that we got him so cheap for insurance purposes at the point. I never expected him to play the off guard so much.

My thoughts exactly. He is what he is, and that is not an allstar or even a starter. But I think there is no better 3rd string PG in the league, especially for the vet min. Too bad he is playing off-ball is not his forte, so we shouldn't be doing it at all.

Good side, can defend, has played plenty of NBA games - certainly a flawed player but pretty good for a third stringer on a good team. Despite his flaws, in a playoff game i'd rather put him out there instead of some more talented but less experienced young guy if we needed to.
