Jalen Smith ranks 86th (out of 484 qualified) in the NBA in Estimated Plus-Minus (EPM) at +1.4.
This is very promising given he was near the bottom of the league last year.
Stix is starting to find his footing. ?s=20

I hope Suns consider bringing him back in the summer.

I hope he does well. I think he can be an OK backup strechy-5 in the league for quite some time.
(Also, not to b1tch about it, but I feel at every possible junction we made the wrong call with him

Re: Jalen Smith news, highlights and other discussion
The problem with Jalen is that he is a center, not a pf. He did not have a future as a replacement for Jae--at least in the team's eyes. I think he might have worked there, but Cam Johnson has been playing well in that role.
We have McGee, and Jalen is not going to displace him.
He would make to much to be a replacement for Biz.
Long-term he might be one of these things, but our window is now.

Re: Jalen Smith news, highlights and other discussion
I like Jalen a lot. I wanted us to draft him and I thought he could be a very good stretch 4, who actually rebounds. After watching him this season, I have growing concerns with how he runs up and down the floor. His body looks awkward, and I am wondering if this will be an issue for him down the line. Either way, I hope the best for him, and hope he can make an impact with the minutes he gets. He should draw a number of teams this summer.

I liked Smith even though we drafted him too high, but there was something with him that didn't pass the eye test with me - the way he ran/moved on the court. Always seemed so robotic, deliberate and almost like his legs don't bend properly. There's no fluidity with how he moves. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, my post above yours says something similar. He runs like a tall old man. I don't know if that will cause him issues later on.

Yeh he looks stiff as but he seems to move ok.
TO be fair, I thought that a bit about Cam when he first started, but he seems much more fluid now.
I wonder if nerves and early career tense-ness (if thats a word) can contribute to it.

I never thought Cam ran around like he was holding in a fart. That is what Jalen looks like. Like there is an issue with his legs, where he never extends them in a natural running motion. His arms are also perched on his sides like a t-rex. I don't mean to bag on him, because I really do like him, but that running style has to be something that will cause him issues later on.
To me, he runs like Bill Russell walks now. Like an old very tall man.
