I saw this and I loved it lol. Biyombo is the only one in our team that is physically intimidating based on appearance and demeanor imo. I know this isn’t at all important to have in basketball but still fun to have for fans. Wainwright is built big but just seems like a goof ball personality wise.

We missed having an enforcer type last season. I remember when Beverly shoved CP3 down last season in the playoffs, Kaminsky was the closest to Beverly and he didn’t even move an inch to step up to Beverly or anything. I think both McGee and Biyombo would both go over and confront him or anyone else if they tried pulling **** like that on us.

yeah, hopefully CP3 will take more control of the pace as he continues acclimating back to the team. we have gambled a bit too much while he was gone both on offense and defense.

Getting Cam Johnson back should help too. The continuity will help.
Yesterday, guys were a couple steps behind on screens. I believe this was in part because of Paul returning, in part because we had some tired legs, and in part because Denver was lights out shooting which made it more difficult to 'pick your poison'.

Crowder definitely has some enforcer in him.

Sure last night was particularly bad but its not an isolated incident. They've struggled on defense for over a month now (generally speaking, obviously there have been a couple good ones in there)

Speaking of fights. Anyone see this? We almost had some fireworks last night in Denver. Jeff Green tried to make his way into the locker room to fight or something.

https://milehighsports.com/nuggets-burgeoning-rivalry-with-suns-boiled-over-on-thursday-night/

"As the final moments ticked off the clock and the Denver Nuggets fell at home to the Phoenix Suns in an intense battle between previous playoff opponents, Jeff Green took off towards the hallway through the tunnel leading to the locker rooms.

Each locker room is separated by about 40 feet of hallway and a set of double doors. As Green turned the corner and neared the Nuggets locker room, the first of the two, he did not slow down and walked straight through those double doors without hesitation and continued towards the visiting locker room where the Suns team was located.

As the rest of the Nuggets players and staffers who were walking with Green realized his intentions, they held him back and kept the situation from escalating according to three sources familiar with the interaction. Ultimately, only words were traded; not any type of physical altercation......"

It mentions them as a rival which is funny cause I don't harbor any ill will towards the Nuggets. Not like I do the Dubs, LAL, Clips or the Bucks at least. Those, I consider teams that are on a rival level.

I think it’s in large part because of our pick and roll defense. Suns play drop coverage on it and whoever the ball handler is gets wide open looks at 3.

Second part is second chance pts. Ayton rotates to help when someone drives and Bridges/Crowder simply stand there instead of rotating to Ayton’s guy to box him out. Bridges in particular is bad at knowing when to rotate defensively in the paint. Surprising considering how great he is defensively otherwise. I think it’s in part because he’s still getting used to playing PF after he’s played SF for most or all of his career.

I wonder if they are bored/struggling to stay motivated. They seem to pick it up in the 2nd half a lot.

Should be noted offense has been up league wide the past month or so.

Honestly most people think the Suns are the team to beat, but there are obviously some who say others CAN beat them in the playoffs but not necessarily say they will.

You do of course have your usual handful of teams saying they can't win without at top 10 players as that rarely happens in the finals and "they are not formidable" or whatever, but that is more like a 5-10 posters out of 50 or so.

Why do so many people here who hate the media pay attention to the media? I honestly don't listen to any of that stuff. Who cares? They always do that? The 2011 Mavs were disrespected. Even the Bucks after having best record and getting swept by Miami 2 years ago were underdogs even though they were much higher seed last year and people saying worst matchup and they rolled over the Heat. Finals losers are often teams that don't get back or fall off the next season but us being young without playoff experience, we are better and more hungry and confident.

But people need to ignore the media.

I don't really. I don't have cable, just Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. But I listen to the occasional podcast and they mention the media, and then I see little snippets of what the media says. I also do see ESPN when I'm at the gym. But for the most part I try and maybe grab a listen in on YT every couple of months or so.

The PnR coverage has definitely taken a hit, which is worrisome because it was really the best part of our defense with Bridges/Ayton defending the 2man game. Doesnt seem to be a strength anymore.

And yeah the rebounding is a bit scary. If Ayton isnt in the paint, we're just not getting the rebound, its like a rule now lol. Even on the occassions where they do rotate appropriately, they're just so small they get pwned by the opposing center anyway.

My other concern is just the ability to stay in front of dribble penetration even without a screen. All the oppoaing primary ball handlers are just too quick/athletic for us so they generate a consistent advantage and then they end up with easy layups/dump offs or theyre kicking it out for open 3s and we have reckless closeouts and it happens all over again. Drive and kick killed us last night and it rears its head against teams like the Clippers and Heat in particular. Unfortunately this is the least fixable issue, whereas the others could schematically see some improvement.
