The irony in all of this is that, while your opinion is valid, you're commenting based on an extremely frail sample. Pre-season games from an 18 year old rookie. It's more than normal that everyone will be saying "he is only 18" - it doesn't take being a fan boy to say such things. It doesn't take being a Suns fan even - it's just common sense.

sup Dirk, nice to see you on a board outside of the Raptors'

I see you've given up on JV and are looking to find a new favorite player.

that would be Luka Doncic

What do those 2 things have to do with each other. The last thing on earth I am not capable of is self examination. I do it way way more than I (or anyone else ) should ever do.

First of all I'm not sure why this would be your business. Secondly I didn't come on this board calling anybody anything. I made a comment about the perception I had of the 2 rookies so far and just because it was negative about one of them, somebody decided to tell me that I should wait for a while before I made a judgment. If I had said I thought both rookies looked great I wouldn't have been told this. Then, I decided to say what I thought which was that it is a shame that fans of a specific team (fanboys) always get upset when the comments aren't rosey and I was attacked by the forum moderator and told that I shouldn't post here. I wasn't mad at anyone until this point, just hoping for some objective discussion. Now people like YOU start to pile on and tell me a bunch of things like how the sample size is small. Well thanks Sherlock I never thought of that earth shattering fact. Irony...please.

I didn't expect my post to be popular but I did expect that since I wasn't bashing him and I was comparing my expectations of him with Chriss that people would refrain from acting like I was a troll. Posting cheesy memes doesn't change the fact that I was totally correct about my assessment of your behavior. If you are watching Bender play and think are saying you aren't disappointed at what you've seen so far...you are either not very good at assessing basketball talent or in denial. He has stunk up the gym. I don't care how old he is...it is still possible not to stink at this age (see Booker) and I am disappointed that he hasn't looked better.

I've never said he's been amazing. I've said I think he moves incredibly well for his size, especially on defense, and he has a nice stroke from three. I've never said he's going to be the GOAT or even an all-star, but that he's an 18 year old kid and I'm going to reserve my judgment for a few seasons. All I asked of you was patience and you've responded with vitriol. I have next to no expectations for what kind of player Bender should be, but it seems like you did and now that he hasn't met those expectations, you're disappointed. Maybe you need to assess your own expectations rather than being angry that no one here agrees with the assessment that he "stinks" because we aren't expecting him to be amazing right now.

I never claimed you said he was going to be anything. I also didn't claim that he would not turn out to be good someday. I simply spoke of what I saw so far. There was also no vitriol. Saying that fanboys experience cognitive dissonance is common knowledge and not even an opinion. This is not at all vitriolic. You got emotionally invested in the topic and we disagreed bfd. I wasn't upset with you just disappointed I couldn't hear something more objective.

That's straight accusatory of a fan (me) and fanbase (the Suns fans) that is highly unnecessary for a disagreement. There was nothing any any of our posts that is nearly close to being on par with this. He was criticizing that we "couldn't hear something more objective" then flipped out over us saying "that's fine, we're being patient". No one is even really refuted him by saying "Bender's play hasn't suck, in fact it's been amazing!" I have no idea why he felt that he wasn't heard and/or was being attacked....

For someone who claims to be a basketball fan for as long as 40 years, I'd expect to be more knowledgable about development process of young players and not making quick conclusions after only a couple of preseason games.

Ingram has had approximate fg% so far as Bender , but I don't see Lakers fans freaking out about it and calling his play a major dissapointment. I guess some fans only focuse on the offensive part of basketball.

Just give Dragan a time!
He's just kid and expecting impact of him till until 20 yo is stupid and silly.

IMO he needs at least three years till you can comment his game.

He's just kid...

I'd like to hear from Suns fans who would like to do a 2016 draft re-do and take Dunn at #4 and stick making the trade for Chriss. You also still take Ulis (Bledsoe insurance).

- Trade Knight + Tucker for best SF you can get.

Thoughts?

Dunn/Booker/Warren/Chriss/Len

Thoughts?

Imagine Bender with 4 years of NBA experience. He will be at the same age which Dunn will make his debut! I think this tells a lot.

True enough, but I think Chriss is the guy who will man the 4 for you in the future. Will Bender be counted on to get strong enough to play the 5? I still think Len is the future at the 5.

Dunn has looked like trash in preseason. I wouldn't seriously reassess the pick for at least a couple years because who knows how either develops. Be interesting to see how Murray does too.

Bender is currently playing SF for us, and while it's a bit controversial to say so, I don't see any problem with him being a starting 3, playing backup center.

Bender might be long and quick enough to be a 3. He's not an insane athlete, but he's nimble for his size. Plus he has a nice looking shot, just needs to get it to start falling.

Bender is fast enough to play the 3. And both don't need to start. We need a backup 4 pretty badly actually going forward, and Bender fits that.

Also, Dunn's shooting like 19%. I love Dunn's potential, but he is exactly what was expected so I don't get the excitement. His big question is shooting and he hasn't proven that yet.

If Giannis is considered PG, I don't see problem with Bender and Chriss acting as forwards, even with Len in the middle, think it will be quite deadly in fact. In fact I think Bender and Chriss has skillsets that complement each other perfectly.

As for Dunn, didn't expect much, got exactly that - I think there is going to be sever better PGs in this draft.

I don't like Dunn at all but I wanted Jamal Murray. I think he is gonna be an star...we could have drafted him and traded Knight for some frontcourt player or future pick.

Dragan will be the best player of all talented croatian players who are or will be playing nba (hezonja, saric, zubac, zizic).

I've been on his hype train for a long time.
Actually this days I enjoy more the euro prospects than the college ones (Mikhailiuk made a bad mistake going to Kansas... still love him)
