Still looking to deal
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I'll take Draymond Green. I assume I'll lead in the nut puncher category.

You ended up with the same first two picks I had, picking at 9. Such likable players.

I know there is no time limit but not signing in for over 48 hours when you are in an online draft is quite excessive. I can't wait until the clock starts.

I don't necessarily always like starting so early but that doesn't mean I want people to hold the draft up for 48+ hours either.

When does the clock officially start?

Typically it is 10 hours starting Oct 1st, which should be enough for sleep or work. We could make it 12. It would be good if people sent their top 3 to me if they are coming up within a few picks (or as many as they would need to, to be covered). I'm not in the league so you wouldn't have to worry about me taking them (not that I would anyway unless they were someone I was already targeting), which obviously would be an unknown so it could still leave questions if I was in the league.

From last season:

Re: CBA Fantasy League Draft, Lawson, darealjuice x 2, Lawson (also, what do you think of IR spot for this league?) Post

What do you think of IR spot for this league? I think it's a little unfair if a team has an injury or two so they only have 1 or 2 bench players while others have 3. I use them in Fantasy Football because I don't think you should have to use bench spots for injured guys. It does deplete FA pool a bit but at the same time makes the playing field more even. This would be just one per team.

I think some of the strategy is determining which players you think will stay healthy, and working the waiver wire. Figuring out when to drop Kyrie when he's out for three months, and when to get him back, has always been an indicator of dedication. IR spot is kind of lazy IMO

Well chances are with 12 other teams you wouldn't get him back, so one of your top 4 picks is gone for the year.

I always drop a player who's expected to be out for three weeks or more. I'd rather try one of the waiver wire surprises, but that's one of the calculations I've always had to make. Is it a good move to draft Kyrie if there's a decent chance he'll only play 55 games, or even 35?

Waiver wire strategy is based on individual preferences, but I think an IR slot would only serve to decrease the skill level by taking away one of the many decisions a fantasy owner must make. If a guy's out, it doesn't really matter where he is, because his production is 0. The best case scenario is to drop him, and then be aware of when he's coming back so that you can maximize that roster slot's production in the meantime. There's no reason to discourage attentiveness with an IR spot.

In football, lots of guys are replaceable by backups. In basketball, when you lose a guy like Kyrie Irving, you can't really get that production back. I think it's a better test of skill and awareness to play fantasy without an IR slot. That way, you're tasked with avoiding injury risks during the draft, and staying on top of your team so that you make the most out of each roster slot and win your matchups.
