Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
Len shouldn't play much with Chandler, Williams, Chriss and potentially Bender also looking at C minutes, but if he can be a defender/enforcer who just focuses on playing defense and dunking then he'll find a role for himself here.
Enough with the 18 footers please.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
On that note it's going to be very interesting how coach Watson splits up the front court minutes. You have 144 minutes to distribute between: Jackson, Warren, Dudley, Jones Jr, Chriss, Bender, Chandler, Williams, Len, Peters.
I mean that's a lot of guys...

I think that is gonna be easy for Watson, not too much sure talent/efficiency out there.
Dudley is not in shape after his injury, he probably is out of the rotation early in the season.
DJJ and Peters are not rotation players in the NBA at this point (if we want to be competitive).
Williams and Chandler are decent centers but they can not play a lot of minutes per game. Williams fouls a lot and Chandler is old.
Len is Len.
Bender and Chriss are rawwwwww.
So...Warren and Jackson are the only ones that are gonna play and deserve more than 30 mpg IMO from that group of players.

Think the minute break down should look something like this
Warren 28-32min
Jackson 28-32 min
Chriss 25-30 min
Bender 20- 22 min
Chandler 20- 22min
Len 7-12 min
Williams 7- 12 min
Peters - Gleague
Jones Jr - spot min
Dudley - needs to get fully healthy and in shape.
Maybe Jackson slides to SG for 5 min a game.
Should be interesting to see.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
Not a lot of info in that ESPN Len article.
Sounds like Len and his people were trying to drum up interest, but no one wanted to trade for him only to have to re-sign him next year AND no one wanted to give him a contract that the Suns wouldn't match.
As many have said, it will be tough for him to get minutes at C with Tyson/Sauce/Chriss/Bender all probably seeing time there. Len will really need to play well to stay in the rotation.
The good news is we finally get to see what he will play like motivated.

Where did you see this?
I wish we had traded Knight for Oak last year when it was a possibility. Now I think it's a dream.
I don't think Philly would want an unsigned Len either.
I'm still high on Okafor and I'd love to get him at a decent price. I think with Tyson mentoring him and JJ's fire, we'd get the most out of him.

I'd offer Knight and the 2018 Miami pick.
They can have Len too.
I'd make the Miami pick convey in 2018 (top 7 protected) otherwise it turns into 2 second rounders.
So, best Philly could do is the 8th pick in this 2018 draft otherwise two seconds.
A bit risky, but we dump Knight. He's our worst contract and moving Dudley and/or Chandler to clear additional room will be easy.
I doubt Philly gets a better offer and they could possibly salvage Knight.

Since I prefer Alan Williams to Jahlil Okafor, I would not offer anything at all for him. I would not take him into empty cap space.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
The issue with Okafor is that Philly is trying to value him as an asset, while treating him like he isnt one. Hard for them to push him as a positive, when they destroyed whatever value he had by playing the #3 pick as a 3rd stringer, while making everyone and their mom know that he was available and on the trade block for the past 3 seasons. When everyone knows you are trying to trade off your former #3 pick and keep your other C's, and you get back ZERO offers and are pretty much forced to trade your back-up C (Noel) instead, that really says something.
Im sure that Jah has game. He just needs to find the right team with the right system to exploit that, but for Philly to want actual assets in return for him is laughable, as his value around the league is as low as it is because of them.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
If Len accepts the offer, and we are genuinely going to kick the tyres on him this year, there's not going to be any time for Tyson.
I wonder if we would flip him for a backup SG. Surely someone could use him.

Len will have veto power over a trade. If traded, he would lose his Bird rights in contract negotiations.

Jackson/Booker/Warren/Chriss/Bender lineup....Let it rock and roll and see what happens. 30 mins a piece. If we are not looking for wins tell the vets to park it in Hawaii and send motivational postcards.

Suns payroll will be about 85.1m once Len takes the QO. I think the floor is around 86m - so the Suns might have to find a contract for 1m to take on
As for Len, hope he learns to catch the damn ball and not get cute and try to dribble in the paint. Be aggressive - no dinking around, dunk it or go up strong

I hope he changes and does the opposite of everything he has done to this point TOO!!

One of the biggest busts in draft history. Cool. Can't hurt, not a guaranteed contract, and something was obviously there once. Let's try to find out quick if it's still there and he can be a decent bench guy or not.
