On nearly every scoring play for Ayton, he has three Nuggets surrounding him and they can do absolutely nothing to stop him.

Once he realizes that he is faster than 75%+ of the Cs he faces, maybe he will understand the ease of getting position just by beating them up and down the court.... (ie MOTOR) ... and should be rewarded with more entry passes. So true those who point out the inability our guards have in getting him the ball. Im sure MadKant can give us a total count on how many times he was open and ignored. Its likely double digit each game.

Also, I think EJ was saying last night how much more involved Ayton is when he is actually involved in the offense.

There's a lot of defensive focus on Ayton even if it is off-ball. Makes sense why it's a lot harder for Booker to run the money PnR with Ayton compared to Chandler last season

Yeah, when defenses clamp on him like that it leaves our shooters wide open...if they could all just hit close to 40% it would be very hard to stop us offensively. If you pause that last play at 42 seconds you can see that there were basically 4 guys right around Ayton ready to close in on him if the pass went to him and Bridges was wide open.

Would probably help if the ball handler could see that, be athletic and shifty enough to beat his man to penetrate and draw defenders to him. Would open things up for a big man inside. Where is a guy like Barbosa (beep-beep) when you need him?

I think Okobo could be that guy. He's about as shifty as Barbosa was, both are pretty long and while LB already had a pretty developed 3PT range, Okobo could definitely develop it.

He just posted an instagram story of him draining 3 out of 4 at the shoot around.

The stroke is CLEAN!

Ayton as a 3 point threat is just even more ridiculous. Once he starts picking and popping, it will REALLY open things up for us. :o

It didn't look so good in his 3 pt contest with Holmes and Moreland today. I think he went 2-10. But I do think his shot will come around. He is a good shooter from everywhere with a great touch. It will just take work.

Wow. That is quick to put a player in ring of honor at 20 years old, while his class is all sophomores.

He must have returned the hundred grand.

It makes a lot of sense.

Doncic has been the best rookie so far but Ayton is the second one and he is closing the gap a bit in the last couple of weeks.

The wild card in the long run is Knox IMO.
He has all the tools and talent to be an special player.

Has a number one pick who became an all star/champion ever had their team become worse after picked? Injuries don’t count.

IDK...

Ayton is a very good player, he is a rookie and he is playing as well as advertised, but he needs help and good veterans around him.

In this league veteran teams win. We are playing a lot of time with three rookies on the court, that is not the way for winning games. And what about Melton and Okobo playing all the minutes at PG sometimes ??? Ayton can not help with that.

James Jones needs to make a move and get a solid veteran PG and try to be competitive in this second part of the season. He made a mistake trading Ariza for another SF, he needed to grab a PG with that asset.

So I think that Ayton is making his job.
Yes, he needs to improve defensively, but other than that I am happy with his overall play. I can not say the same about ten other players on the current roster.
