Re: Deandre Ayton year 3, the next step
Soooo so happy they went away from making Ayton a 3 point shooting big. I butted heads with other suns fans about Ayton needing to adding a 3 point shot. From day 1 I said make Ayton a dominate low post beast, that’s his strength. There was this premise that bigs need to shot 3s that I think is a false premise. It’s a fad that worked for some teams but it doesn’t mean it’s the right fad. I’ll take domination of the paint over soft big 3 point shooting all day.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

I remember when I said Ayton would not make more than 15 million a year. He’s going to get PAID. He’s proved me wrong very quickly. He’s been awesome.

I was thinking the same response after that. He hate it but I've always hated to the writers calling him that. I kind of hated when they called Duncan "Timmy" too. I can understand the teammates/coaches with Timmy.
But for Ayton, call him his name...never liked the standard go to for bigs with "big fella". Do they call CP3/Carter, etc "little fella"?
Wt actual f? Is this a thing? I've never heard of it, and I've heard numerous times big guys called "big fella" - I never thought it was something negative or derogatory... I was actually giving him props and still get whining here for a term that is used pretty much every basketball game? lol
Yeah, it's used often for big guys. Ayton doesn't like it.Actually, let me put that less politely: We’ve got a team full of damn trolls.
And anyone is liable to get trolled at any moment.
I’ll start with myself, because I need some justice from these fools. Alright so the one thing I hate — hate — more than anything else, it’s being called a “big man.” Because to me it’s like….. what kinds of things does a big man do?? Not all the things I can do, that much I know. I’m bringing much more to the table than that. So I don’t want to be called a big man, or Big Man, or Big Fella or any of it. Big Fellas, they got nothing on me!! Recognize the versatility, my God.
Anyway….. the second I made that known, it was a huge mistake. Mikal, Jevon, all them trolls — they never let me hear the end of it. Calling me a “big” now every chance they get. I’ll be in the group chat, it’s “what up big fella?” Or when Coach is splitting us up in practice between guards and bigs, it’ll be like, Where should DA go?? Or like, Ohhh you mean “DA and the bigs,” not “the bigs,” right??? It’s hilarious. I mean, I hate it, but it’s hilarious.

I have never ever heard or seen this, honestly. But ok, whatever floats your boat big guy

I noticed that. I don't think it's overblown. I think it was originally mentioned in this thread as a joke because of what he said in this article. That's it. And when someone asked about it, I showed the article. Nothing more than that. He hated it, probably in the same way CP3 would hate being called little guy, but then they started calling him it intentionally to annoy him so he just laughs it off now.

Super efficient. Scoring a bit more than twice less than Doncic, shooting three times less, while anchoring Suns D.
Luka and Trae are a wash in the playoffs. Doncic more efficient, but Trae making for it by being able to hit FTs.
There is no big gap between any of those three.

One of the justifications for picking him was fit with Booker.
Fortunately for us, Booker is proving a worthy talent of building around and DA is proving a perfect fit with Booker.
McD's parting gift. Thank you sir.

You know after watching the playoffs this year I want to go to Joel Embiid and ask him again "What do you think of the comparisons between yourself and Ayton?' Would he reply that, "Ayton is doing whatever it takes to win, just like I hope to do."
Just say no to idiots!!

Isn't McD's twitter AV a pic of Booker?
You just know that he'll change it we keep winning....well here's to him being able to have a pic of Book/DA holding the NBA title

Hate to say it. Doncic with Booker would have been a fight. Doncic's usage #'s are crazy! Also his diva attitude. I think hes a stud and he out did my expectations by 20 x's but I still wouldnt want that flopper on my team. Guy complains more than lebron, and that drives me crazy. Play basketball!

He looked like David Robinson in the 1st Q.
Excited to see what he can do when he's consistantly like that.

Consistently like that? Did you watch the game? They didnt even include him for most of the last 3 quarters! The pace slowed down and it was hero ball towards the end. Didn't look like the suns at all!

Re: Deandre Ayton year 3, the next step
At first I thought Ayton didn't have the ability to handle the ball and get to spots or drive to score, but he looks like he can.
Is coaching telling him not to do this or does he not feel confident in his handle?

I think the first couple of games in the season, we were still working out the kinks of having a HoF CP3 (and losing) they told Ayton to stop taking the 3 pointer, or even the 19 footer or posting up. They simplified his offensive role to mainly a screener and roll-man/finisher/clean-up duty. It's resulted in domination on the defensive end and absurd efficiency on the offensive end.
When you got CP3/Book/Payne and a lot of cutters you don't want to be slowing down the offense by running it through Ayton. However, I think they will start giving him the ball more (they ALL need to work on entry passes tho) and letting him get to work. The playoffs are a grind, teams shut down what you like to do, so we gotta look to Ayton more. His jump hooks are money.

I just want the team to try to get Ayton going to the free throw line more. If Ayton could get to the line more it would put pressure on the opposing teams defense. Which will open everything else up for the rest of the players on offense.
