Bud might be part of the problem but this starts, middle and ends with Ishbia. He is the pseudo GM playing fantasy roster building
He can do one of two things
1) continue the roster-bating team building of overpaid big money players to make "news"
2) he can thoroughly step back, assess and try to build a better, more balanced, sustainable roster

Five game losing streak, out of the playoffs, last place in Pacific Division, Booker high scorer. Did I wake up in 2016 or 2017?

Hence this FO will definitely consider it.
The idea is trading KD for a package that would help us now and in the future.
A package around an All-Star, borderline All-Star o future All-Star player, a young player and some picks or/and swaps.
That's why we agreed on trading him at the deadline. We got wat we needed from the GSW but they wanted KD on board with coming back to San Francisco.
The rumored trade was: Jimmy Butler (borderline All-Star player), Kuminga (young player), two picks and one swap (future).
So it's no putting ALL those positive assets that we could get for KD in the market next to Beal to ship him out. We could use one of those assets, no doubt about it, but obviously not most of the package.
I can't imagine the Rockets trading Jalen Green in a KD's trade. I know that Gambo keeps saying that the Rockets wants to trade him for his salary...but ****, he destroyed the Thunder yesterday.
Jalen Green makes more sense in a Booker to Houston trade . Granted, they still have Reed Sheppard if they traded Durant for a package centered around Green. Booker and Green again play the same position. How is that different than Beal and Booker playing together - meaning allocation of resources
At some point -- building a roster has to come into player. Complementary players.
How is that different? Jalen Green is young and an upcoming player full of energy. Beal usually plays like he is 40 years old...if he can play a couple consecutive games.
The redundancy in position isn't a big deal if they are great. The problem with Beal is that hasn't been a impact player since coming to the Suns.
If we could have the opportunity to get Anthony Edwards next to Book we wouldn't think about redundancy because he is a great athlete and amazing player...Jalen Green isn't Ant but he is closer to him than closer to Beal.
But I doubt we can get Jalen Green even for KD. His contract is looking an steal at this point.

I might think of this guy from the undrafted ranges to give us a bigger-bodied Nurkic 3rd rotation replacement who is very skilled at passing and scoring and a bit like Jokic in playstyle.

There's been way too much focus on building around Booker. He's just a piece not a center.

Saw OKC lose to Rockets today and was thinking they will not throw the game against us and try to get back on track, pump their confidence before the playoffs. An article on same about how teams look at playing the Suns.

When talking about roster construction for a top-tier competitive team, and your top 2 players are mid-range dominant, it becomes important to surround those 2 players with absolute knock-down shooters from three and a dominant low post scoring presence to cause gravity and force defenses to collapse. How we should target these two archetypal players in trade and the draft or even by way of free agency when, if post KD trade we can get below the 2nd apron should be an absolute top priority this summer!

Don't think KD's style of play needs to be taking into consideration in building your team for the future, GoK. Suns need to target high risk high reward players in the draft, someone raw with potential who can blossom with more playing time.

I agree with you 100% . But I am just trying to set myself up for the fact that for some reason, he might not be on the market (but that could also be to not tank his value) - I am expecting they will keep him. That said, I don't think a Durant trade will get them close to what they need.
I still think Detroit is the perfect place for Booker moving forward.

100000000% agree man! I probably should've premised the situation as a quick reload hypothetical around Booker for this post. But even without KD and just Booker, our blueprint should be taken from teams like Boston and OKC and Houston with young, physical hyper athletic players ( high risk/ high reward) young players from the draft.
But also whilst Booker is still here, a dominant athletic post presence and the most elite shooters we can find from the draft or undrafted/ free agency options for floor spacing and perimeter gravity to give Booker space to work in between.
This would result in the opposing defenses being forced to collapse into the paint, creatinf looks for our snipers, or with the inverse of the defenses having to otherwise flare out on our shooters.
This should open up lanes to the hoop for either Booker or other high level athletes (acquired via draft) to generate rim pressure and free throws and/ or high percentage shots right at/ around the rim.
All in all, the best support strategy for a dominant midrange player? But yes! We should absolutely we definitely have to start prioritizing high risk/ high reward prospects that can blossom and hopefully add significant talent around Booker.
or whatever our core might become when he eventually leaves in the next couple of seasons if not much sooner??

I see Memphis is on that list for KD, who would they offer? They have no picks and JJJ is off the table. Bane is no use here. The only one that makes sense for them to send over is Ja....which would be interesting. We do need a point guard.

Re: 2024-25 Season Discussion and Speculation Part V
I have a fix for the off season.
Hire Jeff Van Gundy as our Head Coach. Tyron Lue brought him in as an assistant coach for the defense. At last look their defense was ranked number 2 behind OKC. That is what this team needs to improve that most. We obviously have a lot of roster decisions to make but I would like him in place to work with whoever is our GM to insure that we are going after the right players. Beal has to be moved or waived. KD probably needs to be moved but if has to be for a kings ransom. Take him off this roster, would we have won 10 games? If has the value that everyone suggests, I am all for moving him. I am unsure what the right decision on Booker is. I will go either way.
Bud has coached us into one of the worst defenses in the league. He has to go.

I think if you bring in a new coach -- and want them to play defense, Booker probably needs to go. You have to get the buy in from the top person and it would start with Booker at this point in his career. If he willing to be that guy

Maybe, but them losing to the Rockets was probably good for us, because they may have been going for 70 wins. Still, they haven’t clinched the #1 overall yet.
