Boom.

Sorry but do you believe that Atlanta would give Millsap for Marcus + 27?

He's in the last year of a contract - if Frye opts in we can trade him, so the trade would be:

Frye
Marcus Morris
27

for

Millsap

Might take more than 27, maybe the 18?

Frye fits their mould as a true stretch 4 who would be nice next to Horford.

Sorry i didn't count Frye. Now it makes sense but i still think we need to give our 18.

Blech, can't see ATL giving up an All Star for that collection of parts. If we can pull it off I'd be over the moon though.

What about Markieff instead of Marcus?

^ might work in the trade thread, but seeing as this is the FA thread I'd say unlikely ;) Just jokes.

Kieff to me holds the most value of the 3 but you'd ideally keep one to be our backup PF. Catch is, the Mo Bros are a package deal, and I think Frye is paid too much and is too inconsistent for a 20mpg bench role. If we had a long SF that could play some small ball PF that'd be ok.... But that's really Marcus' domain. Could draft That Capella guy at 18 for a Matt Bonner specialist bit-role, or even Anderson.

G Bledsoe
G Dragic
F Tucker
F Milsap
C Plumlee

G Goodwin
G Stauskas
F Green
F Capella
C Len

Could be an overachieving young team, but we could end up treading water as well.

It's pretty crazy how Milsap's per36 is barely better than MkMo's. :o

And if you look at their third year per36 stats, I like MkMo's better except for the two extra rebounds Milsap gets.

Frye cant be traded pre-draft. Would have to wait until he decides to opt in (after the July Moratorium).

Looks like he has to opt in on the 23rd.

Interesting..... i stand corrected.

Surprising that its taken him so long to decide then, as it looks like its going down to the wire instead of the extra 3-4 weeks that i thought he had.

Can GS offer someone the full midlevel exception? If so, what is the dollar amount of that? Do you think Kerr would go after Frye if he opts out? If so, would you want to pay that dollar amount to Frye?

Edit: I just researched this and figured out that GS could offer Frye $5.3 million a year with 4.5% raises.

Would you offer Frye a long term contract like that?

I think it depends if we can get a major upgrade at the 4 or 3 spot and lose one of our 4 bigs in the process (Kieff, Frye, Plumlee, Len). I don't see much point in re-signing Frye if they are just going to stand pat and develop Len and Plumlee and Kief? Do you want to pay him to keep minutes from those guys? He's at the stage in his career where he should be helping a team in the playoffs make it over the hump, not just get into the playoffs and hopefully to make it out of the 1st round.

If by some chance the Suns trade away Kieff as part of a package to bring in a SF, then I would say re-sign Frye so as not to lose him as a stretch 4 starter. We're the 9th best team in the Western Conference and comprised of mid level talent and young talent. A lot of people on this forum overvalue their favorite players and I sympathize with them but I think we're short one or two players.

Very reasonable take DSprocket.... I see Frye on this squad.... either as an expiring or a very very
reasonable sunset-ride-off deal. Tucker, to me is a 50/50 and it will be a market based decision. Bledsoe will get paid, I just hope someone (LA) doesn't get stupid(or smart) and force us to back the 'match any offer' boasting.

Still... would anyone cry about adding Deng ? or Ariza ? or or or ? after the initial sticker shock and the moaning of affecting future cap space, bottom lining it, we are better.

I think $5 mil/per for Frye is reasonable, and it wouldn't even be his last deal, I don't think, given that his game isn't reliant on athleticism. He could be a very useful back-up 4/5 for a contender. The real question is whether we want to maintain cap space for other purposes.

I think Frye moves the needle more than Ariza or Deng at a cheaper price. I think we can grab a better 3 than those guys in this draft if we're savvy.

I do agree he is a good backup for a contender, but you can't really lure a star without cap space, and signing those $5 million backups just eat into that potential cap space. It's much better to sign those mid level exception salary guys after you are over the cap.

I do like Frye though, so it's a tough one. If we are just happy being a fun competitive team like last year but don't expect to improve much soon, he's worth signing.

Yup. It's not about being fun to watch anymore but to win games and actually make the PO.

All this talk about players opting in/out, nothing yet on Channing, whose deadline is tomorrow (earlier than many of the players whose decisions have already been announced). Good guess that he's still in talks with the Suns about his options. I'll be surprised if he doesn't opt out.

Chris Herring: Can confirm that Carmelo will opt out. Actually submitted his formal ETO letter on Friday stating his intentions to do so, per a source. Twitter @HerringWSJ - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.UU7hDnDp.dpuf

Great point. I would be happy if they were able target and move up for Gordon in the draft. I think he's a game changer in a year or two and allows us to keep Frye a for the capspace. I wouldn't be mad though having Deng, I just wish he were younger.

Did we already discuss the possibility of Lebron signing here? I just read an article by Zach Lowe of Grantland and he seems to think Phoenix is one of the 5 teams that make sense: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/surve ... landscape/

It's also well known Lebron wants to play with Bledsoe.

I know we don't have the most appealing package for Lebron right now, but him signing would make some pieces fall pretty quick I believe. We have a lot of picks for leverage.

Thoughts?

I kinda feel bad for the Knicks. They trade half of their roster (basically screwing themselves) and bending over backwards to appease melo. And this is what he does in return. The guy has no honor or loyalty. Him and Kobe qualify as the most selfish people in the nba. Thankfully, he won't be anywhere near the suns organization.

Hope the Knicks learned that no player is worth giving up to much assets. And no player is bigger than the organization.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

So because the Knicks are a horribly run franchise he should feel bad and stay with them? :dontknow:
