Did we give up the 58th pick for Oso or one of our future 2nds? Because if we still have the 58th pick, my PG big board ( remaining)
Looks like:
1- Cam Spencer.
2- Zyon Pullin.
3- Reece Beekman.
4- Jusah Mintz.
5- Jamal Shead.

*** Fun fact, Spencer plays with that irrational confidence and moxy of a champion! And his deadly shooting reflects that well.

We gave up the 56th and a protected future 2nd (protected through 51).

But someone we could get at 56 very well could go undrafted and we could sign them.

I like him pretty well. Smart player but not a great rim protector, rebounder and can't shoot the 3. I would have preferred the massive upside of Chomche. Solid defensively though.

I still think they need a veteran back up to replace Eubanks

That leaves

Jamal Shead
Tristen Newton
Trey Alexander

Would be nice to sign one of these guys as an undrafted FA.

How do you like/rank these guys GoK (or anyone else)?

Of those 3, I'd have them just as you have listed them man! Although for a POA playmaking defensive guard, I really like Shead, but I'm also intrigued by Reece Beekmans' connection to Dunn at Virginia too.

Overall my guard big board for remaining best options is now:

1- Cam Spencer.
2- Zyon Pullin.
3- Judah Mintz.
4- Jamal Shead.
5- Tristin Newton.

Yeah, it would be nice to find one, but this is good insurance and he's a 4 year high iq guy with good defense. We really could use a stretch 5 too if we are going to play Dunn. Can't really have 2 guys on the floor who can't shoot.

Projection

Given that he’s a big man who can facilitate for his teammates while also protecting the rim, his game resembles a more athletic Jusuf Nurkic. However, considering he still needs to work on his defense, he has made strides in that regard, impressing in the 2024 NBA Draft Combine with his ability to set screens and switch onto smaller players. That said, he might find it easier to thrive on offense than defense at the start of his NBA career. While he might not have the All-Star ceiling of other versatile big men such as Domantas Sabonis, he should be a serviceable frontcourt player for years to come, either in a starting role or off the bench.

Sounds like the plan is our playmaking to come from C position again.

Mainly because we don't have a backup C and he is a 4 years more polished smart player with a high iq.

No. He won't. Dunn is legit.

Didn't draft next Steve Nash in Kolek, but drafting two guys who play with #13 is a good sign right. /s

Both guys appear to bring good energy. Whether they turn any good is yet to be seen.

Day 1 of the draft was an A outcome for us drafting Dunn. But day 2 giving up the 56th AND a future 2nd just to get an undersized non shooting, non rim protecting center when rim protection was/ is a huge issue AND we desperately need a playmaking guard is very disappointing and drops our A draft night down to maybe a C overall in terms of overall value exchange.

The only way we can raise this score back up is if one if Cam Spencer or Zyon Pullin goes undrafted AND WE AGGRESSIVELY SIGN with our 3 available two way contracts:
1- Zyon Pullin or Cam Spencer.
2- Quinton post or Drew Pember.
3- Ariel Huktpori or Ryan Kalkbrenner.

But adding Ighodaro does make me believe that we have a Nurkic trade lined up or in the framework of getting done for an actual athletic rim running shotblocking center.

It also tells me that we're very confident that we'll land one of Lowry, Kris Dunn or last option bring back Cam Payne..........MEH!!! :-?

Love to do that but we need to move Nurk. Like now.

You really don’t like Nurk? We going to be begging for him when we go up against a team like the nuggets

I don't dislike him. I just value trading high while we can. He ain't playing this many games next yr. Plus, his cap space is needed.

Nice, we ended up with two of the three prospects I wanted. I thought Oso might be a late first. Both of these guys bring athleticism that is sorely needed. Our fast break and easy buckets situation has been pretty rough. We need guys who can get out and run to put pressure on transition defenses. Very happy with this draft. Would love to have figured out Kolek as well, but very satisfied with Dunn and Oso.

Bronny James reminds me of how North West got the lion king part as Simba!
