From what I understand about what is being proposed on the new CBA, according to Stern is that they want to limit the cap (probably as Sun Scorched mentioned) to 25% of the current contracts (~15 million) and they want to limit the number of guaranteed years to about 3 and if you want to go longer (up to 5, it would be two option years)...so a bad signing won't kill a team for years at a time.

Now we *have* to extend Amare. If we don't extend him then we're in trouble come July. Have to say I am proud of Kerr as someone people have said. He didn't cave in to Sarver's pressure and actually made a basketball non-move. If we work out a reasonable extension for Amare then we'll be alright.

Hopefully we make a nice playoff run, Amare proves his worth to the Suns, averages great numbers the rest of this season, and we can find a way to dump J-Rich and his salary, and re-sign Stat, and move forward with Nash, Stat, Lopez, Dudley, Frye, Barbosa, Hill, etc. I hope we sign him to like a 14 / 16 / 18 3-yr extension, or something.

When does the new CBA take effect? We should give Amare a front-loaded deal so it doesnt hurt us as much in the next CBA (assuming the numbers are lowered) as well as if he gets hurt or needs surgery again.

Don't know if Sarver would want to give more now though.

After reading that article I'm convinced. I think the only reason that holds us back from the CLE or MIA deal is that we still have this season in mind, given that we don't have our own draft picks. If we still own it, Amare would've already been shipped out for expirings and future assets. AND I don't think Amare will ever settle for less than 5 yr/70 mil...Oh well, I'm prepare to lose Amare for nothing in the offseason. Seem like it might be the best for the sake of this franchise that Sarvar didn't give Amare a 4 yrs extension before the CBA.. I dunno...

Hickson would have been a solid role player at the least and Miami's first might have landed a gem in the draft that could range from anything from a bust, role player to all-star. Who knows but at least the Suns would have a chance to get another solid piece, if he walks none of the above would happen.

With the possible lockout and the CBA comming up next year I have a hard time seeing Sarver spend money incase that happens. If it does wonder if there any good FA's? That's also supposed to be the class of 2007 rookies in it I think.

I keep hearing people say we should go after CP3 in 2011 but his contract doesn't expire till end of 2011/2012 and he has an option for 2012/2013.
