I just really hope the Suns do the right thing and just let him walk away. This has been great news to start the offseason.

I honestly can't see Frye contributing on another team in the NBA the same way he contributes to the Suns. I hope he opts out, nobody goes after him, then we sign him for pennies.

Clippers would love him as a backup to both Blake and DJ. He can play C next to Blake and PF next to DJ and the team has been hoping for a legitimate stretch 4/5 for some time. He'll get good solid minutes off the bench as the main 3rd big. A stretch 4/5 with good length like Frye is a dream for the Clippers. Doc thought he could make the miserable Byron Mullens into that player, of course I thought it was idiotic.

So certainly the situation of no one else going after him isn't likely to happen. Also been reported that the Cavs and Warriors are interested and there was even noise about Miami being interested in him recently. Can't really think no one in the league notices him, sorry.

Frye opting out is a good thing. If he wants to take pay cut and stay then great. If he gets overpaid from someone else then great. Win win.

I'd be surprised to see Frye go. I'm sure he can get paid more elsewhere but his family is pretty established here, he's got an important role with us and I think there is mutual respect and appreciation between him and the organisation.

I'm sure we have already laid groundwork for an extension in place at a lower salary but long term deal. I don't know if anyone else would be willing to give him $6-7m a year for more than 3 years. That's a decent chunk of the cap for a 31 year old 6'11 SG.

The reason I feel it's a good thing is because the Suns will be active on getting that PF position filled if Frye leaves which I hope he does.

Imagine the Warriors getting Frye. Bledsoe and Dragic would combine with 50+ pts in the paint. Suns would kill them.

I dunno. I think we are borderline title contenders if we inserted Melo to this team

Carmelo couldnt even get the Knicks into the playoffs in the dog crap Eastern Conference. His offense is entirely iso based, most scoring he does comes in the form of possessions he takes away from his teammates, you'd see our other scorers each drop by like 5 points per game, and our predictable and boring offense would make FG% of his teammates drop across the board. He also brings a bad attitude, bad defense and a losers mentality.

I want absolutely no part of that chucking loser.

got confused with Grant Hill. Thought Frye's family was living in Phoenix as well.

Agreed phrazbit. Rather see team basketball than Melo ball. I want no part in Melo either. If a healthy Melo, teamed up with an $88m roster couldn't make playoffs in the EAST, I'll pass on him every time.

Definitely feel the same. Suns will be very active getting a PF in free agency. I doubt Dirk would leave Dallas, Bosh has repeated his desire to stay in Miami. I'm not a very big fan of Monroe, his stats say he crashes the boards, but he is hardly a shot blocker, and I think he would still leave our interior defense as being weak. He also doesn't have much of a post game.
Zach Randolph is getting up there in age, but his game doesn't rely on athleticism, he doesn't get any blocks as well, but his post game would make up for his lack of defense. I don't see him being a good fit with the Suns though. I'm not sure if he's the smartest player either.
Pau Gasol is still the guy I see the Suns going after. But if he decides to stay in LA, I have no clue who the Suns will target. I don't want the front office to panic and offer Monroe a huge deal, and there really isn't anyone else out there.

What does salary have to do with supporting cast if the players suck? JR Smith was their 2nd leading scorer when he wasn't untying players shoe laces....

My problem with Melo.....he couldn't even get his team to the eight seed, in the east. I'm not asking him to be in contention, just get to the playoffs and get swept in the first round. Melo is a very good player, but not a champion.

I don't think you can blame melo for the Knicks last season. He actually put together an incredible season. Probably his best one yet, very efficient for a high volume shooter and he had the best rebounding year of his career. He just had no help whatsoever, I'm not sure there is a single player on that team I'd want on the suns

Excuses are always made when owners cheap out on much needed help but the Knicks spent over $88m on their roster which included veterans, scorers and defensive role players. On paper, they should have been a lock as a playoff team in the weak East but Melo's team couldn't even achieve that. Yeah you could blame the roster, the coach, you could put the blame on a million things but at some point you have to lay some blame on Melo.

Look at the two teams above them that made playoffs in the East this season:
ATL: $66m roster with Millsap and Teague as their best players (Horford was out)
CHA: $63m roster with Jefferson as the clear-cut best player

Tell me how the Knicks roster is any less talented than those two teams?

All I ever hear is Melo's playing some of the best ball of his career and getting no help. But what I never hear is his teams not spending to bring him help. What you find from Denver to NY is they do spend money to bring in players but they are players brought in specifically to play Melo ball. They are guys brought in so Melo can be the best Melo he can be. It just goes to show his style is not conducive to winning.

Frye lives in Portland, Or. He loves it in Oregon. His parents live in Phx but I think he comes here in offseason. I've ran into him a few times at my local pub when it's quiet. That was when I lived in NW Portland. He loves Phx but he's not that bound to Az. Maybe that would change if we gave him a contract to retire out on and then an office job.
Nash never stayed in Az during the offseason, he was in NYC or LA
What Suns recently retired still live in Az?
Grant Hill?
Barkley has a house in Phx, right?

I would still offer Hayward 10 million to see if Jazz matches.

If Frye leaves...
There are options.

-Via draft
I think Kyle Anderson could be moulded to be Frye's replacement and then some.

He could also fake a shot and drive past any big men and cause the defense to collapse and he can dish off to 2-3 shooters. If his man gives him space ... He takes the open shot.

6'9, 9 foot standing reach, 7'3 wingspan... 48% 3PT, 6 apg, 8rpg....
Vonleh is attracting a lot of attention but Anderson could be more special if he builds his body up and transition to be a play making stretch 4.

-move Markieff Morris as starter

That's too much for Hayward.
